But when I had the problem I was a very young man starting my career. I did not have a wife or children to support. This guy even lived with his mother-in-law who probably taunted him day and night over his conditions. But then a man has to be strong enough to deal with life. Things hardly go as you plan. Good days and bad days come in everyone's life.

Live in a less affordable home, cost affordability of buying things and so forth. You can still live without all that as long as you have the support of your family. It's one thing to kill yourself but to kill everyone in the family is terrible. If he passed away the rest will have managed and the world would have gone on. Now the world will go on as if nothing happened but the loss will linger in the memory of people that he knew and every time they are going to mention him it will not be in glorious words. Although the family rented their current 2800-sq foot home, they lived a typical upper class life. They had two cars, a Chevy Suburban and a Lexus SUV and they reportedly paid their rent on time. There are people in this world that can't have two meals let alone two expensive cars. Money screws everyone in their head unfortunately.

No matter what his financial situation, the US offers ways for one to get their life back together. He could have declared bankruptcy, got all his debt out of the way and slowly rebuilt his life. I guess he wanted to take the easy route and end it all.

Then you have no idea how even the smartest of people fall into the trap. When you need money really urgently, what would you do? Say you need money for your mother's surgery/your business needs some fund urgently to retain that big client etc. Its urgent and you cant find anyone to borrow the money from. Then an agent comes and tells you that he can get you 2/4 credit cards of good limit and you can raise a loan on basis of that. Thats where it starts. You think you would pay it off somehow working 24 hours a day. But even before you realize, the first installment is due. After 3/4 months the goons start knocking on your door and threaten to kill your children if you dont pay. You go to police only to be turned down. The goons are legal goons. The police gets its share to overlook whatever small or big illegal things they do. Then you approach financial consultants. One look at your statement and he asks you to pay up his fees upfront. Then he advises you to have a last word with the banks directly and if you can not get a low denomination rescheduling, your only legal refuge is to file for insolvency. Where do you go? I have seen it from very close quarters. If you stay in Mumbai, there is no dearth of people who go through this. Friends, relatives.....plenty of them. Its can be very testing and some can stand it and some can not and give in the most dramatic and tragic way. Easy to sit and point finger at them from the comforts of our luxury homes.

I refuse to believe that financial reasons can be as dire as to contemplate killing yourself. First off, its only money - money is stuff, money isnt happyness. Sure, money can make you take your sweetie to a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Bora bora but it cant help you form the connection that will make her feel special or what it is to truely know someone. Furthermore, it isnt hard, especially in the west, to make money. If you are a woman, its doubly easy for you - all you gotto do is hit the gym in a planned manner for 5-6 months and then find a job as a stripper. What is wrong in making money from showing off your body if it means a few desperate pervs will get off it ? All you are doing is showing some boobs and ass...i had a girlfriend who once did that and before she did it, she asked my opinion about it - i loved her, so i told her that as long as its me and not another man thats giving her pleasure and not laying hands on her, she can show off as much as she wanted for as much cash she could get. But hell, even if you do have a socially drilled sense of artificial morality, where showing off one's body is perceived to be unchaste, there are a zillion and one avenue to make money. Just the other week, i had to make 400 dollars inside of 6 days just so i could go to a concert in the interior with my friends - thats 400 dollars over my regular paycheque- so i sifted through craigslist and the options were stunning : someone gave me 50 bucks to take a 1 hour survey on smoking, another 60 bucks to sample some crappy food in a crappy food-fair,got 60 bucks one day baby-sitting a 9 year old for 4 hours, a dude paid me 75 bucks for 3 hours of teaching him basic calculus, a chick gave me another 30 bucks to proof-read her essay on Dante's Inferno....needless to say, i came up with 700 bucks in 5 days and had a grand ol time. Money is like that - easy come, easy go. Atleast, if you know how to. All it takes is knowing what you are capable of, what you are willing to do and preparing for it mentally before accepting it. Not a very hard task nor a very hard avenue to explore. The beauty of the west is, if you put in the hard work in the right areas, you will be rolling in cash. If you want to take home 5grand a month and have no degree or make 2grand on the side plus your high-tech job, all you gotto do is devote a weekend or two and some free time towards exploring avenues. It doesnt take much more than skilled time management, really. Silly to fret over money or kill oneself over it...real silly and sad.

I thought a lot more happens in strip clubs, and majority of money earned by strippers is from lap-dances...ain't it ? 2). I know it is easy to earn the kind of money you are talking about, and I have done that too a few times in crunch situations, but these people were in far greater mess than you talk about. Their debt ran into several hundred thousand dollars or more ...something that simply cannot be re-paid with a side jobs like you mentioned. But I agree, killing yourself and the family is seriously a sad thing. But stress can do un-imaginable things to people and they probabl yrequire counselling.
