Dirty_South Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I have this fascination for U.K/Europe in general. I somehow feel people there are more decent/civilized/dignified. Someday, I hope to work in the U.K, just to hear that wonderful accent of theirs. :D Trust me Sriram,Norway is one of the best countries in Europe, the people are cool and the few Indians who live there r also normal,no fake accents ! There r 4 Tamil guyz workin in my Dad's office , they r very creative and almost NO attitude :) Norway is a very beautiful and clean country. One of the CLEANEST countries I've ever seen after NZ.
fineleg Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Lots of snow shoveling and icy driving conditions in Norway though :D (since MM ran away from that to warm weather)
vadodaravictor Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 so when does one stop being classified as a FOB? What are those people called who are neither FOBS or ABCDs? One is born as FOB or ABCD. This is something that cannot be changed:winky:
coffee_rules Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 People are not more civilised here than anywhere else. And the accent is unbelievably shocking' date=' I like the Canadian one.[/quote'] I have heard from friends about Brits being hostile and racist towards Asians. More than in US. I have been on vacation, the customer service one is used to in US, is totally missing in Europe. People in Netherlands were very cordial probably. But U.K and France were pretty bad experiences.

Yep, especially the Nordic countries I believe are the BEST in terms of civil order and amenities. And as you said, VERY clean, beautiful and quaint and not a mass collection of concrete and steel like most big cities in the US. And add to that, Europe is Waaay more liberal than America in so many things like religion, gay/lesbian rights, Stem cell Research etc. I guess if you truly want to get a feel of what the Western way of life has to offer, Europe is the place to be, not North America. Japan too is great, but there's a major language and food problem for Asians. :D I have heard from friends about Brits being hostile and racist towards Asians. More than in US. nikred Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 One is born as FOB or ABCD. This is something that cannot be changed:winky: Don't the FOBs get stale after a while?
Guest Hiten. Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Are you kidding? To even call what the Canadians speak as an 'accent' is quite a proclamation..:D What are you talking aboot, eh ?
vadodaravictor Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Don't the FOBs get stale after a while? I just wrote whatever my experience has been.:winky: No matter how hard I try & where I go in world, I cannot change my accent:giggle: I already know this and don't make any effort to change it. No matter how hard I try, I cannot live without daal-bhat & roti. I will always remain a FOB:icflove:
Rajiv Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 You simply cannot generalize except fashion and weather, Indians are Indians whereever they go..some have more of the same, some are not; it all depends on company and the folks you socialize with. There is not a single person here or almost anywhere who can give an overview of this sort Apart from the novelty factor, there is really no difference
Kartikey Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 what the hell's a FOB or rather who the hell's a FOB?
Dirty_South Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 what the hell's a FOB or rather who the hell's a FOB? Fresh off the Boat,Indian FOB means an Indian who has left India to a new country.
Ram Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 What are you talking aboot' date=' eh ?[/quote'] zYUjIayCJSA :D
