Ram Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 They do it one eye first and let you go.. After one week, if nothing's gone wrong, they do it on the other eye. So, essentially, for one week, you need to wear one-eyed spectacles or lense only in one eye.

I will tell you everything I can think of. You have to be at least 18 years of age to do the surgery. I got my lasik done at lasikplus here in Richmond. First they conducted a check up on my eyes to see if my eyes were strong enough to be operated on. It took them about a week to qualify me. I got it done in 2009 summer. I was exactly 18 years old when I got it done. The surgery expense is different for everyone. It ranges anywhere from 3500 to 5000 USD. Mine was $4200. The surgery takes about 2 minutes to complete. It's actually 50 seconds on each eye. You will be out of the operation room in less than 10 minutes. Seven extra minutes because they will take time in cleaning your eyes, putting drops and etc. My mom timed my surgery time and it was about 8 minutes. I had a 15/20 eye sight for about 1 month after the surgery which is better than perfect eyes of a new born :--D. Then it settled at 18/20 for next 5 months or so and then it's been 20/20 until now which is over a year. I had to put in special eye drops every day twice for about 3 months after the surgery. The drops are very cheap and you can find them at walmart or any other department stores. The thing that pulled my parents and I in the surgery was the fact that they were offering a lifetime warranty on my eyes when I got it done. In short, if my eye sight ever gets bad again, they would fix them for free. The warranty doesn't include the farsightedness which usually occurs at the age of 40. I felt very safe going through the surgery because the doctors here in Richmond have over 50,000 surgery experience under their belts. It's wonderful because you will never have to touch your glasses ever again. I trashed my two pairs of glasses two weeks after the surgery:icflove:. Strong enough - your eye sight must not be changing very often as in your prescription should have stayed the same for past 6 months or more. They will do a proper check up and let you know. I should let you know that this initial check up was free for me. Did I tell you that, it's a whole different world beyond the stupid glasses? :--D btw, it's your eyes so you should get proper information from lasikplus or TLC lasik. I am just telling you about my experience.

Both have over 50,000 surgeries under their belt. I got my surgery done by Dr. Ketan Patel and no he is not related to me. It was nothing but a coincident. Good luck brah :two_thumbs_up:

DomainK Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 :haha: Mate, I think someone's just trying to scare the piss out of ya... This aint a surgery mate, which is why I used the word 'procedure'. You have to lie down normally on the bed. They will 'clip' your eyelids, so that you dont bat them during the procedure. Then, they move this big Laser device right over your face. They line up the laser over your eyes, start the whole thing up. As I said, the only 'scary' part is, you can actually see the Laser beam go into your eyes ( Forgot what color it was, mostly red I think) and the temperature in your eyes rises as the Laser goes about changing the shape of your retina. And no local/global anesthesia ( as far as I can remember). What I do remember is that I was completely awake through the procedure. Just before they began the whole thing, they told me it'll take only 10-15 mins.. So, I started a mental count of time to distract myself from the whole thing. But once I realized it was taking a bit longer than that I literally began to complain to the Doctor that 'What is this, you told me only 10 minutes... This is going on for ages... This is the longest 10 minutes of my life..' I also remember the nurses nearby laughing at this 'joke'... :giggle: Thats some scary ****. :nervous:

Its not like they're going to lock you up in a cage with a tiger or something. THAT, I agree, is scary. This isn’t. You will have complete conscious throughout, there will be people all around you and it will be over before you can say ‘Thanks is to * you-know-what*, poyz is the played well..’. :giggle: And even assuming you’re scared outta your minds, just consider the trade-off for a second. 10 minutes of pissing in the pants versus a lifetime of relief and freedom? Which looks more appeasing? Looks a no-brainer to me. :--D
