^ Eh? Can't they cancel couple of stupid ODIs (make it a 3 odi series) or the stupid 2 T20s they now have in the series, and then make time for the extraTest (keeping the warm up match as well). Its the obsession with ODI and T20 and not prioritizing Test matches that bugs.
5 ODIs were already part of the series and so was 1 T20.....now unless you can replace the additional 4 hour T20 with a 5 day test match, the only place to cut is the practice match. Moreover, tests are not hugely popular in NZ or in India, so for BCCI to push this through is something to be appreciated.

^ What the hell you laughing for? Yeah' date=' sure, lets play more T20 and ODI and BCCI can fill their coffers and Modi and co can buy some more private jets.[/quote'] What exactly would you like? You whined before about a long break and no cricket, and now again you're whining for an extra match.

Add the third Test in NZ at the cost of T20 and and an ODI if needed - so players can get practice.
I'd thought the same thing. But Shwetabh already said it was part of the original plan so they cannot scratch. We should be grateful to the NZ Board and BCCI that they're able to add in a 3rd match. It really is a surprise that they've managed (or allegedly so) to add it in despite a poorly organized FTP.

India VS NZ series : New Schedule Revised schedule * 1st Twenty20 international- February 25, Christchurch * 2nd Twenty20 international- February 27, Wellington * 1st ODI- March 3, Napier * 2nd ODI- March 6, Wellington * 3rd ODI- March 8, Christchurch * 4th ODI- March 11, Hamilton * 5th ODI- March 14, Auckland * 1st Test- March 18-22, Hamilton * 2nd Test- March 26-30, Napier * 3rd Test- April 3-7, Wellington Jan 15 2009 The BCCI and New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have announced an extended schedule for India's tour to New Zealand, which will now include an additional Test match and a second Twenty20 international. The Indian team will arrive in New Zealand on February 20, eight days earlier than originally scheduled, and will begin the tour with a Twenty20 match in Christchurch on February 25. Napier will host the additional Test, the second of the three-match series, from March 26 to 30. The reworked schedule resulted in the dates for the second Twenty20 game and the first three ODIs being brought forward. The three-day warm-up match against a New Zealand XI in Lincoln between the ODIs and Tests has also been scrapped, which means India have no warm-up matches before the first Test in Hamilton. BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said he was delighted that both the boards were able to agree on an extended tour. "My thanks go to New Zealand Cricket for responding positively to our request for an extended Test series," he said. "There have been a number of issues for both boards to resolve to accommodate the new schedule and I am pleased we have been able to work together to achieve a high quality programme. To have such a strong mix of Tests, one-day internationals and Twenty20s will be good for both teams, and for cricket followers in India and New Zealand." NZC chief executive Justin Vaughan said the opportunity for an extended tour by India was great for the game in New Zealand. "India are probably the most exciting side in the world at present - packed with superstar players, and the chance to see six more days of high quality international competition will be welcomed by all New Zealand cricket fans, and give our team a great chance to prove themselves against the world's best," he said. "We have worked hard to keep as much of the schedule as possible intact - the result is a tour where more fans will be able to see more games in more places."

fineleg is trying to seek attention by cursing odi's and calling it "stupid odi's" he thinks that by calling it "stupid" she would impress Old ICF members like Dhondy etc and would be in their good books.. I have been noticing this trend for a while now. He tries his hardest to render a ray of attention each and every cricket fan love ODI'S @ MR fine leg. it's just that Test Cricket is better, but that doesn't mean ODI'S are stupid. you are stupid actually

Tell that to NZ cricket board. BCCI is not arranging or hosting those matches!!
Chandan, how can already scheduled ODIs and T20 be removed from the schedule to fill in a test which wasn't there in the original schedule? What are you going to tell the ground owners, the local associations etc. etc.? More so, that NZ is not a big cricketing center and these places probably bank heavily on these once/twice a year matches for revenues and to keep the local clubs and sport going. Not to mention, ODIs are much more popular in NZ.

Why on earth will they remove the ODIs or T20 which are the only money spinner for them, however little that may be?! I want few forummers to understand that it is the host board which is in authority of the series there, not the guest board. Some forummers are calling BCCI to scrap those limited over matches as if BCCI holds a remote control to add or scrap whatever it wants.

^ Rant-aticz and Whineaticz combined cricketicz, Great post you have there. You may even find 5 overs cricket as great cricket. And get it into your head - I'm not saying they shud not schedule any ODIs - just they shud not do it at the expense of Test cricket. In this case, a few others have pointed out they "cannot cancel previously scheduled" matches. Fair enough.
