Ponting said Haddin was adamant the dismissal was legitimate, and gave his gloveman's honesty a stamp of approval.
This is like a serial killer giving a stamp f approval on the honesty of a first time murderer. Haddin - you've got your first accredition. Way to go mate - before you join the elite league of Greg, Dyer, Healy, Slater, Pup and Ponting in the hall of shame

Its funny how Ponting jumps to the defence of his men, whenever they’ve had their integrity questioned. Its almost as if he immediately assumes they could do no wrong. From claiming bump-ball catches to hanging around in the crease to wait for the umpire’s decision after edging the ball the first slip to getting their gloves in front of the stumps, the Aussies list of transgressions is unparalleled, when compared to other teams. Its clear as daylight that Haddin got his gloves in front of the stumps. Its also pretty clear that he immediately knew something was wrong, judging from his immediate reaction to that dismissal. Yet, he continued celebrating. If I am right, there was another incident involving Australia and NZ, in one of the ODI played in 2007 or 2008. Forgot what it was. I think Michael Clarke was involved in that one.

the ball hit the stumps. with the clarke generating immense reverse spin, it spun back, stopped in mid-air (momentarily), and decided to spin back into Haddin's gloves (thanks to great seam position). (no soda bottles) (no ball tampering) here's an alternative explanation of this phenomenon: Gcaq4ElAJrE

after what had happened with Haddin' date=' i wont be surprised if u cop some in the chin, if u try to 'haddin' any one![/quote'] No cameras in the backyard mate, i will get off scot free! But seriously i think Haddin should apologise to the kiwis, he made the wrong decision to appeal and also not to get Broom called back. I dont think Haddin goes out there and purposely tries to cheat, he just made a bad decision and i would support a ban...maybe 1-3 games, and definatly an apology.

u r right. Clarkee picked up a bounced ball and claimed a catch against a NZ batsman in probably their last 1 day against NZ just prior to Indian team's tour in dec 2007.it was blatant cheating and was remarkably clear in slo-mo , than even Saurav ganguly-sydney-pick up! he celebrated straight away as if it was a genuine catch. u have got to give him- he has an excellent acting career ahead of him! at sydney for a monet in the slips he even looked at his fingers as if he had got them jammed below the ball while catching! great potential for impromptu acting, with out direction! or who knows the aussies conduct any training program on these things like what they plan on mental disintegration!

Ponting's apology claim stuns New Zealand The bails may have been dislodged four days ago, but the controversy continues to rage unabated. The New Zealand camp was left bemused on Wednesday when Ricky Ponting claimed Daniel Vettori had apologised to Brad Haddin via text message for his comments regarding the controversial dismissal of Neil Broom in the first ODI on Sunday. Replays suggested Haddin's gloves had broken the stumps, and Vettori made clear his displeasure after the game by stating the wicketkeeper "should have made some noise about it" before the umpire, Bruce Oxenford, ruled Broom bowled to Michael Clarke. Ponting attempted to downplay the incident on Wednesday by telling reporters in Melbourne that Haddin "got an apology via text message from Daniel", but the captain may have succeeded only in fanning the flames. Vettori and his team-mates were stunned to learn of Ponting's comments, adamant that no apology had been offered. "We've agreed both sides have a different version of events," the New Zealand team manager Lindsay Crocker told NZPA. "We should put the matter behind us and it was nothing personal." Meanwhile, Brian McKechnie, the New Zealand No. 10 who was the recipient of Trevor Chappell's infamous underarm delivery in 1980-81, said Haddin's bullish stance had done little to quell the controversy. "I don't think that helped anyone," McKechnie said. "He would have been better off saying that, upon reflection, the replays were not so clear-cut and the whole thing would have ended there. "The best thing here is that New Zealand won the game. If the result had gone the other way, I think this could have been a much bigger incident." --- damn retarded aussies
