The world's saddest song again being played on the world's smallest violin for the PCB

A proposed tri-series involving Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Dubai, scheduled potentially for late March, has been cancelled. It is thought the unavailability of Sri Lanka in that period scuppered the plans. Though it now stands cancelled, it isn't certain whether it was ever officially on. "The event will not go ahead," a senior PCB official told Cricinfo. "We were told Sri Lanka could not make it in that time but no reason has been given." The event was part of a deal which the PCB signed with Dubai Sports City, but which has been the subject of some contention and confusion. The deal was brokered - but not apparently signed - last year by the PCB at a time when Nasim Ashraf had resigned as chairman of the board and there was considerable administrative chaos within the organisation. Finally, a deal was signed by Ijaz Butt, the present board chairman. For Pakistan, faced with uncertain commitments at home due to the unstable security situation that has seen several sides refuse to visit, the deal was a pragmatic path to playing and gaining financially. At the time, Shafqat Naghmi, then chief operating officer, said the three-year deal was worth US$9 million to Pakistan, who would be required to play a set number of matches through the year. It is understood, however, that the deal is not an exclusive to Pakistan and similar plans have been made with other subcontinent countries. Pakistan, the official said, stood to earn US$2.9 million from the event, money which would have come in handy for a financially-strapped administration. © Cricinfo

All is not lost for the PCB. They can employ innovative ways like renting out their stadiums for social gatherings, marriages, political party meetings etc. Or they could have Mohammed Yousuf and Shoaib Malik on a prime-time talk show and earn millions from ad revenue as the whole of Pakistan sees both of them tearing their nuts off. Zaid Hamid can be the host and he can promptly call it another Hindu-Zionist-Christian-Sikh-Buddist-Shia Muslim-Atheist conspiracy against the Sunni Muslims of Pakistan. If none of their employees have any work because of lack of matches, they can do what they always do; Appoint a committee to find out why there is no work for anyone. They can also appoint another committee to determine why committees don’t ever work. This way, not only do they get money, everyone has something to do.

thats funny.. :cantstop::cantstop:
thats PCB for you. but Pak fans will claim it is BCCI which conspired to deprive Pak of more revenue and more international cricket! some of them are so much afraid of BCCI and its money power that they might now accuse BCCI of influencing Obama's policies! After Pak Government accepted Kasab as a pakistani and filed cases on LET and arrested a few cadres and established that the terrorists have come by sea in boat, some of the apologists who were claiming everything as Indian media cooked up stories have gone in to deep depression! they are on a free fall in to abyss!:hysterical:

Calm down guys. The series was never officially fixed, it was only proposed, so no need to fuss about the cancellation. Lankans are dead tired after back-to-back games and Bangladesh, well we will be playing a 5 match series with them anyways, so it's good that this series is called off before any official work.
