Eng WI 2nd Test = EPIC FAIL

play has been abandoned for the day. "The bowlers have deemed the run-ups to be a safety hazard," says Hurst. "Everyone felt, including the umpires that it would be okay. It would have been jumping the gun to call it off before play." This the biggest fail in the history of test cricket ..

there was a time around 1997 & 1998 when 2-3 matches were abandoned due to bad pitches. even a ind-sl odi was abandoned & a few days later a eng-wi test match got abandoned. looks like we might have another in this match now

How hard can it be?

The outfield, which was relaid in October after high-profile issues with the drainage during the 2007 World Cup, was declared by Hurst on the eve of the match to be "unsatisfactory" but he added that it would be impossible to know how bad the situation was until play actually got underway
Now, how hard can it be, for them to have asked some local fast bowlers to just run up to the pitch and bowl some mock delieveries? Why do they have to wait till the actual play got underway, for them to determine if the playing conditions were satisfactory or not and then, scramble to move the match somewhere else in the most unprofessional manner? Its not like this was the first time they saw the ground or something. It has been lying there all the time, people knew there will potential problems and yet they made no contingency plan? If this is the way Windies cricket is being handled, no wonder they have been in the doldrums for so long. Shocking….

Agree with that Marirs. Also this game brings back memories of the 1999 tour when same team England were on tour under Atherton and we had this uneven bounce pitch. Just a week before the game was being scheduled there, there were news that the pitch might not to be good enough to play the game, and then England were i think 4 down for 11 when Atherton came down to the ground and talked ot umpires and later game was cancelled.

such ground conditions are unacceptable i was hoping for an exciting contest- a good bowling performance by the dark ppl, and perhaps a better game with the bat by the whites
what the hell ?
