y is jadeja dropped after just 1 game & making 60* whereas a proven failure rohit sharma isnt dropped despite failing for over 8 months. i would take even ishant sharma & munaf patel as specialist batsmen in the team ahead of the quota player rohit sharma its time to bring dhawan/rahane/pujara/virat kohli instead of rohit sharma in the indian team :protest: read the comments on cricinfo. everyone is  at rohit sharmas selection i hope rohit sharma gets injured & becomes unfit to play cricket for atleast 1 year

Domestic illiterate, This is why I said we should take sangwan instead of Rohit Sharma. Sangwan is better batsman than Ishant Sharma or Munaf Patel (not to mention dilliwalla will bat better also :winky:) We need Sangwan, we need :protest:

Squad for NZ tour announced The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selected three different 16-member squads to feature in the T20, ODI and Test matches to be played in New Zealand later this month. More... BCCI selects 3 squads for NZ matches D Ram Raj Saturday, February 14, 2009 2:32 IST Email Chennai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selected three different 16-member squads to feature in the T20, ODI and Test matches to be played in New Zealand later this month. The five-member selection committee comprising chairman Krish Srikkanth (South), Surendra Bhave (West), Narendra Hirwani (Central), Raja Venkat (East) and Yashpal Sharma (North) deliberated for over two hours with skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni before finalising the squads. "The T20 team will leave Mumbai on February 18/19. The replacement players would leave later," BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said. Dhoni will have Delhi's dashing opener Virender Sehwag as his deputy in all the three versions of the game. The Pathan brothers, Yusuf and Irfan, figure in the T20 and ODI teams, but will return to India after the ODIs. Considering the nature of the pitches and the weather in New Zealand, where seamers are expected to get help, the selectors have reinforced the pace attack by including Dhawal Kulkarni in the Test team. The Mumbai pacer has been rewarded for his consistency in the domestic season. He was the highest wicket-taker (42) in the Ranji Trophy. Kulkarni will join the pace battery consisting of Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Munaf Patel and Laxmipathy Balaji. Balaji, who has also had a reasonably good season, gets an opportunity to seal his place in the national team. The Tamil Nadu pacer, however, does not feature in the T20 and ODI squads. As expected, Dinesh Karthik has been selected as the second wicketkeeper for the entire series. Saurashtra's Ravindra Jadeja will go to New Zealand for the two T20 matches. Sachin Tendulkar will replace him in the ODIs. The ODI squad, however, will see six players -- Yusuf Pathan, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, Pragyan Ohja and Praveen Kumar -- making way for Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, M Vijay, Amit Mishra, L Balaji andKulkarni in the Test team. There was no explanation for any of the selections. Srikkanth expressed helplessness. "I'm willing to talk a lot, but unfortunately I can't do so. Please get the permission from BCCI, please understand dear," the chairman of the selectors said as reporters approached him.

Just one question: Why announce the Test squad now? Why not wait until 3-ODIs are over, and then make up the final decisions? There may be surprisingly good or bad perf by the fringe players in ODIs - and both can be taken into account.
bcci have to book all tickets of all players together. Airlines usually give discount to bcci if they book all of them together. seperately booking for odi squad and those players who are in test squad would cost them more. so they decided to come up with all the squads at same time

Wrong!

ananth' date=' you just don't discard talent like Sreesanth.....even Ishant and Zaheer have not done what he has done - completely decimated a batting line up in one spell. I don't give a damn about his bowling average in domestics, [b']if the guy is fit he has to be in the squad in India and play all matches outside the subcontinent where we play 3 pace bowlers usually.
Is he fully fit? This is his 2nd comeback after the injury, if I recall correctly. Maybe they're not convinced that the guy can last in NZ. He did bowl fairly well in some domestics, but he may not be ready.

I think Munaf ( a fitter version) is much better than Sreesanth in this scenario With Zak and Ishant keeping the batsman at bay, this guy with this excellent off stump line and length can keep it tighter inducing mistakes with the swing assistance in NZ conditions rather than Sreesanth, who can look menacing for a dozen deliveries, but will leak runs like a gutter In NZ conditions, where scores are going to be 200'ish most of the times, i see Munaf being a better option Though I would like Praveen Kumar there as well

however the conditions are,u still need ability to swing the ball.sree has that in abundance.if he was fit there was no reason to exclude him n include munaf.munaf at best can bowl line n length.he cant swing it like sreesanth.he doesnt have pace like sree.economical bowling doesnt help much in test cricket,if u cant trouble the batsmen.also,i would rather take 4 for 50 than 1 for 20 from our main bowlers
