CSK Fan
After all we have enough players to replace him in ODIs too. All we need are a team of 11 big hitters who dont know when to stop hitting sixes. We have been winning without him on flat subi pitches so why not in NZ too? Bring on the Pathans and the Gambhirs, the new sensations of Indian cricket. Link to comment

fineleg
I think Veeru needs to use his brain .. I would hate him if he gets out trying to score 300 off 44 balls ... If Viru stays for 35 overs, we have a great chance of registering our first win in this series. However, he needs to keep in mind that first 10 overs, 35-40 runs is more than enough. If he and SRT can prevent loss of wickets in the first 10 overs, and then gradually up the ante between 10-20 overs, and finally kick it up a few notches after 20 overs, we will have game on. But he keeps going mad in the first 10 overs, and one shot too many leads to the dismissal. SRT's role is clear - anchor up one end and stay almost most of the inn at the crease, and keep Viru calm as long as he can. Take the singles, big shots can come later. If SRT scores, 80 off 95 balls he has done his job (anything better is a bonus and welcome but not required). If SRT scores 25 off 18 balls, he has failed the role. Keep Viru and Yuvi going at the other end for "quick runs" *after* they get their eye in. Link to comment

Dravid
in 90s saying "anchor up one end" to sachin meant dont let your incompetent partners face a single ball and chase down 250+ yourself :hahaha: Link to comment
fineleg
Welcome to the early 90s. the highlight refers to 35-40 runs enough in first 10 overs. that refers to the importance that sehwag needs to make sure he stays past the first 10 overs rather than go all over-aggressive and get out early. even though first 10 overs 35-40 total is like 1990s, if sehwag stays he'll MORE than make up for it. I disagree - Viru should go for the quick runs in the first 10 overs when there are fielding restrictions B->B->. Sachin, Gambhir should keep it ticking atleast for 15-20 overs and let UV, Dhoni, Yusuf and Raina keep increasing the tempo for the 20-25 overs Link to comment
