Guise.....I have a friend visiting to New Jersey. She is eager to go to New York City on sightseeing. She will be here on 7th of April. I have to make a flawless plan to see maximum places within a day. Any new yorkers here who know the city well or anyone who have been to sightseeing to NYC, please help me out. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.:nervous:

Dont be like everyone else and just go see places for the sake of it. Take her to few places and spend a lot of quality time :winky: Otherwise, half your time will be gone in getting lost in subway stations or waiting in queues to buy tickets for something or the other.

April 7 - a Tuesday, one of the perfect days to spend time in NYC. Things to "see" in New York : 1. Empire State Building 2. Statue of Liberty 3. Metropolitan Museum 4. Guggenheim Museum 5. Museum of Modern Art 6. Broadway Show 7. Greenwich Village coupled with a stand up Comedy Show 8. Central Park 9. Times Square Now I have no clue about your or your friend's interests and frankly if it were up to me I would never waste time visiting places like Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building but here is a tentative itinerary I could think of for your one day in NYC : 1. Get into the city really early - plan to be in by 7 and knock Statue of Liberty off your list. There are frequent ferries at that time of the day and you can do a to and fro by 9. 2. Grab a train uptown and knock off Empire State from your things to do list. At that hour it should not take you more than an hour, so by 11 you would have finished off with the two most boring but essential to first timers things of New York. 3. Keep going uptown and spend some time at the Metropolitan - it's a huge place so decide on which galleries you want to visit there. Personally, I would recommend the Monet, Picasso, and Da Vinci sections. You can have lunch at this French Bistro on 58th and Broadway(near the Banana Republic). You can substitute Metropolitan with MOMA or Guggenheim according to your interests. 4. It's probably going to be 3 by this time so head on over across the street to Central Park to chill out and relax in the sun - it's going to be beautiful in the first week of April. Walk around some trails, lie down in the grass, have a hot dog. 5 a. Head on over to an early Broadway show - take your pick according to your taste. Tickets are going to be reasonable on a weekday and specially if you buy them in advance. You can take the typical Times Square pictures before or after the show depending on the show time. If too tired catch the train back from Penn Station else go down to Greenwich village for some nice, affordable, and happening places to eat and enjoy the night. 5 b. Go to Times Square and after doing all the things tourists do, go to Greenwich Village for some small clubs featuring up coming stand up comedians. Some of these shows are great and cheap - guys like Ray Romano have started out from here. Around the area you'll find many bars and eating joints to keep you busy till you are ready to crash. 6. Come on over to my place for a cognac.
