bharat297 Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 It does seem too good to be true. I really truly hope it is true though. We have been dying for a bowler who can consistently hit the high 150s in bowling speed. If this is true , and I hope it is, the future is very good for Indian cricket.

Even if he isnt accurate. As long as he can bowl the yorker and the bouncer, he can be a deadly weapon. Remember Jeff Thompson, or more recently Shaun Tait. Im prepared to accept someone going at 6 or 7 runs an over if they can take 5 wickets, especially in a Test match.

Most international batsmen would find an express bowler very uncomfortable to face, even if he lacks control. What i want to know is if he has the physical attributes to be a hostile fast bowler. Is he tall ? Does he have good leg and abdominal strength ? High level of stamina ? If he ticks all the boxes here, he is a genuine prospect. If he is some 5'7 midget who skids onto the bat (like the famous pakistani ultra fast bowler Mohamamad Sami) then he isn't worth our time.

Accuracy is a concern, he can be quick, but if he doesn't bowl in the right areas, he'll get smashed around Look at Tait, came steaming in, put the ball in the wrong areas and was punished

ludhianvi Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Coming back to the 6 paces part, Maybe this is an aside, but I was trying a side on action with a rock back (horizontal and vertical), and I was able to generate quite a lot of pace with only like paces in my runup. It kind of creates a slingback action. You can kind of see this in bowlers like Mitchell Johnson and Tait, they almost come to a complete stop in their final delivery?
