i cant understand y some of the ppl out here in this thread happen to be very anti-india. india, always had the potential to produce a 170 kph+ bowler & now when we r about to do it, some of u ppl dont believe it. and before calling it a hoax, just remember that munaf has bowled at 152.1 kph once & ishant sharma bowled at 158.3 kph earlier this year and after few days, we will c atul sharma breaking the 170 kph barrier. atul sharma, along with ishant & zaheer will make a very unplayable fast bowling attack & we will be able to roll other teams for <150-200

In my unqualified opinion, you should have a fantastic opportunity to keep someone away from playing for so long to interupt the training process and you should really look to perfect the bowler first in more than just pace and accuracy. I think that if you let this guy into the game with not only the aforementioned, but with control of swing and perhaps the SLOB (as well as the very important mental training), then the impact could be magnified thousands of times rather than 'yet another' raw quick into the game.

I was watching this TV show and the host was asking Imran why India despite having the same pitch and same conditions as Pak could not produce equivalent bowlers and he replied that he didnt know about India but in Pak at the age of 12 years caoches ask bowlers to bowl flat out, as fast as possible and not to worry about line length. Only after he achieves an optimal pace is he taught to control it without sacrificing the pace no matter how long it takes. In India its the opposite, bowlers are asked to cut out pace for line and length. Unfortunatley though line and length can be leant anytime, pace bowling cannot be

You should have changed the channels at the highlighted point. Coaches for 12 year olds in Pakistan? Imran Khan must have lost it. :haha:

I didn't watch the show MTC is talking about but i am guessing Imran was not talking about "formal" coaches. In Pakistan we play tape ball cricket which breeds aggressive batsmen and really quick bowlers. In TB cricket even a near perfect line and length bowler like Mcgrath would get hammered because a) there is hardly any seam movement b) there is hardly any bounce c) the ball is relatively soft which gives the batsmen a bit of time and allows them to hit through the line.

I dno about Pakistan but in Australia I had a coach when I was 12. Playing under-13's ... all junior teams had coaches.

Yes tape ball cricket is a different, and quite potent, cup of tea. Specially helps for a young bowler to hurl it with brute force. My issue was with the word coach. Coaching is completely absent in India and Pakistan, unless you are studying in one of the well-off schools of the country. Most youngsters learn things on their own and not without coaching per se.

Thats true ... but maybe thats what Imran Khan meant.

hold on ... when did that happen?
in the asia cup. and ishant sharma is genuinely quick. he did bowl at 154 kph even in aus

i remember he bowled at 152.7 in Adelaide one match. it was on the free hit ball against Gilchrist. Next ball he got him out. I dont remember him clocking 154 though. Im not saying he's not quick. Im just saying thats the quickest Ive seen him.

i think it happens only in india that the fans hate their own fast bowlers & say that they cant bowl quick despite the fact that india has the no.1 fast bowling attack in the world

Haha this brings back memories of Delhi's humiliating defeat in the IPL semis. I have never seen such a collective outpour of celebrations and gaalis for the opposition, ever on ICF. Not even when India beat Pakistan in the T20 final.

Sure Tics.....you can play the Fool ...which you are very good at :--D but if your own drumbeats about how you are an aspiring cricketer for India, is anything to go about....you may get to play in Sivamani's band :giggle: Maybe you should start with what you have done on a cricket field , so we get to understand your ambitions for becoming an India player :hmmm:
