if the match had extended for another few overs today, that would have been quite possible, with the way Ishant & Munaf were going! they were extraordinarily lucky. god balls missing stumps/edges. edges falling short, mishits going beyond the reach of fielders.the bowlers were tiring, but tomorrow is another day, fresh start. may not last an over if Munaf faces first up.

It doesn't really matter' date=' though it would be nice to get there. We have more than enough runs to take a comfortable first innings lead of around 100 and close out the series by batting in possibly the best batting conditions we will see in the match during the 3rd innings.[/quote'] Shwetabh, shouldn’t you wait till NZ bat again before declaring this total is good enough?

400 would be good' date=' however the pitch could be gauged only after both sides have had their say, a score of around 400 is good on any kinda pitch[/quote'] no-this is still a good wicket to bowl and we should get plenty of swing-we should make sure we make the batsmen play.ZAK will be very important imo.

There is no doubt cbf that there is something here which will interest the bowlers, at the same time as our batters showed that the bowlers can be dealt with once the batters get their eye in, only regret with our batters was that no one went on to score a big one :((

The pitch might actually quicken up a bit tomorrow and if we get some breeze going it's going to be tough work for the batsmen. On a slight tangent though, I cannot understand why the timings for the last two days cannot be changed when it's apparent we will have curtailed days because of DST.

I am with shwethab's view here..the pitch seems to be conducive for swing bowling and there is something for the bowlers all through the day..we have enough runs on the board and we shd get a good lead..so doesn matter if we get 400 or not
satish, catching will be the make or break. If a Guptill or Ross Taylor or Ryder gives you Half-a-chance, can we convert it into a great catch? If yes, we have a very good opportunity in this Test. Giving a life to these sort of players have been very expensive.
