Things would get very interesting if some icon players shift teams. For one, if Dhoni leaves CSK, I'll be Masakkali PWND. Dada may not last, Dravid and Kumble or the out too. Tendulkar is severely damaging his morale by continuing on, but there is no chance of him relegating the captaincy - he is stuck in it. DC do not have icons and when Gilly leaves - if they make Symonds the captain, then DC bye bye. All this of course allowing the IPL to last for longer than 3 seasons :--D Even Heroes fizzed out.

Guest Hiten. Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Icon player rule will remain, IMO. This is because all the icon players are a BIG HIT in their respective states/cities. Do you think people will follow Mumbai if SRT was playing for Bangalore ?, Kolkata if Ganguly played for Mumbai ? It's a good rule and they have to make sure these Icon's last for at least 2-3 years more so that the public is really into IPL and then they can slowly fade away (of course the oldies) from the IPL and go into their franchise's management. IPL need to get at least 2-3 more teams and ask ICC to give them a window of 2 months every year; allowing all the players from different country to participate without any other commitments. Champions league should not happen because it will overkill the T20 format and people will lost interest in other forms of cricket. IPL has be the nuclei of T20 format providing all the entertainment.
