Like hundreds of others I boarded a flight to Kolkata from Mumbai [images] on Monday morning. After the scariest landing attempt I have ever been in, the Indigo [images] flight diverted to Guwahati, its ultimate destination. So far so good. After the passengers heaved a collective sigh of relief the flight hemmed and hawed and came to a standstill in the middle of the runway. The reason: the cyclone had affected outbound traffic from Guwahati as well. Then came the ridiculous part. In front of our flight, say the smiling air-hostesses, are flights that cannot leave till the weather in Kolkata improves. So for the last two hours we have been stuck inside the aircraft. Water has run out. Children are crying. I can see a man who is probably on dialysis. And the best part is that even those people who boarded the Indigo flight 321 to get to Guwahati cannot get off. Though they are at the airport! Patience is now wearing thin. Arguments are breaking out. The pilot says he cannot park the flight and let people out in Guwahati until the weather improves in Kolkata. Is there someone out there who can step in? So here is the bottom line. Thousands of people - pilot says five flights are stuck at least - stuck minutes from an airport but they can't get off to drink a glass of water. I cant see why they can not just put the ladder and walk you all out to some place to have some refreshments or may be a hotel. Indigo is THE WORST airlines in India. No doubt about that.

I had similar experiences in the US flights for some seemingly silly reason but people just sit and put up with it.

Indigo is the cheapest airlines in India and so they are sasta tikau type.. dont expect the best service when you are opting for cheap flights.. and anyways there is not much difference between cheap airlines in India, US or any other country.. when you are travelling by Indigo, you are well aware that you are compromising comfort for money and so I dont think it would be right to blame them.. anyways the flight was of Guwahati/Assam and those are not the best airports in the country If you had faced the same problem in Jet airways, I think it would be right to complain but it is not right to complain while travelling in Indigo.. go for Jet if you need better comfort

They fly you from one place to another and we should not ask for anything more. But sometimes, they are just funny. Last time I flew Indigo, I asked for an emergency exit seat (for better leg room) and they asked me to pay 100 bucks more. :D

Leg room is terrible, seats are cramped up(the average American's weight does not help), water is served in tiny glasses, it is futile to ask for air hostess attention during the flight, blankets are never enough, ear plugs are sold, you can obviously forget about a meal being served(the ones that occasionally do serve stuff which is inedible), air hostesses are old hags. I've always enjoyed flying in Indian domestic airlines - have only traveled in Indigo once though. But surely you cannot blame the airlines for not letting passengers disembark - that decision lies with the airport authorities. It is very common on busy or bad weather days here to be sitting at the runway for an hour or so at busy airports like Chicago and New York.

My American Airlines flight was making rounds for 2 hrs at the airport before it took off, now that's an awful long time for a one ahd half hour flight. AA sucks but its cheap so I don't care.:--D

I was shocked by the quality of my flight when I got to the US all starry-eyed.

Wasn't it recently voted the best domestic carrier? And people I have spoken to all rate it quite highly.

My own experience has been bad on Indigo. The staff are rude and the services are bad. When the flights are late, no one bothers to announce. They are the cheapest.....how can they be the best? Of course in a vote they will win because of the sheer number of people who prefer them because they are cheap. Jet and Kingfisher are my favorite.

Though time consuming, its always quite enjoyable.

Its only cheap on paper and if u compare the price with Jet / AI the difference is not too much. I have never boarded Indigo but my wife has, while she was travelling from Kolkata to Mum to board an international Flight. As usual they dont serve anything during the flight and if u want to purchase even a bottle of mineral water 200 ml they charge u Rs 75 , Sandwich (4 slice of bread + Cheeze + Veggies) + a bottle of mineral water will cost u close to Rs 200 . They charge u on each and every given occasion , they do have many hidden cost. They dont treat u properly , there staffs lack knowledge.

Recently one of my friend was travelling on Emirates , the flight was schedule to land at Khartoum International Airport but due to heavy sandstorm and Zero Visibility it was diverted to Port Sudan . There all the passengers were allowed to disembark and were given rooms at the Hilton... Ok atleast if Indigo cant afford 5 star hotel , atleast they should allow the passengers to stay at airport lounge.
