Anyone from among Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa can win the World Cup,” More... ‘No favourites for T20 World Cup’ Karachi: Former Pakistan captains Zaheer Abbas and Wasim Akram on Sunday refused to consider defending champion India as favourite to retain the World Twenty20 title, saying the Indian players would be too tired to go for the kill after a hectic season coupled with the Indian Premier League (IPL) grind. “I think there is no favourite team in such a tournament. Anyone from among Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa can win the World Cup,” Abbas said. “If the IPL is good practice for the players ahead of the World Cup the Indians have been playing too much cricket and would be tired by the time the tournament is held,” he said. Akram also agreed that India could face problems this time because its players would be fatigued after a long tough season. “In such a tournament it is very difficult to maintain a long winning streak and you need to be fresh for the challenge,” he added. Conflicting opinions The two, however, had different opinions about runner-up Pakistan’s chances. Abbas felt Pakistan had only a distant chance to claim the trophy. “I would love to see Pakistan win but the fact is that the World Cup is being held in different conditions and it will be very tough,” said Abbas. However, Akram tipped Pakistan as favourite to win the final because he felt bowling was its strength and suitable for the English conditions. “And they have a very good track record in T20 cricket. “But more then anything I believe our bowling is strong and ideal for the English conditions and pitches,” the former fast bowler said.

First one paki criminal said IPL is fixed now other are claiming we are tired. 3 weeks from now once we have walked all over them thats when they would say how India was at advantage as we got good prepration at IPL

I am particularly surprised with Akram who has been pro-India most of the time But regarding favorites, I wont say there will be any particular favorites in a T20 format .. India surely has the best and most hitters amongst any international team and so India's chances are quite high... SA is not too far away too and their players are in good form too .. T20 WC will also be a bit of luck rather than pure talent as we have noticed in IPL or other T20 games.. these are knockout games and any team can have their luck even with a weak side.. so I will say India have the best side to retain the title but anyone including the weak sides can also win .. but lets pray and hope that it remains with us

Tendulkar tipped India as the favourites for competition, for he felt that rather than just some individuals making the difference, the team is the best balanced outfit around. "We come as a package," he said. "I am certain this package is the best in business at the moment. This package has everything which is necessary to make us world champions once again. "India is the most balanced side in the world and there is no doubt we can defend the title. Batsmen that can play long innings: Dhoni, Gambhir 2. Power hitting: Sehwag, Yuvi, Yusuf 3. Excellent spin options: Bhajji, Ojha, Jadeja, Raina/Rohit/Yusuf 4. Good Seam/Swing: PK, Zaheer, RP 5. Solid fielding with our young guns and that added extra of playing without fear India aren't guaranteed to make the finals but it'll take a very good team playing at it's best to compete/beat us.
