Omen 1 (not that scary, but decent storyline/acting) Exorcist (the old original one. scary as hell) Psycho (Hitchcock. 1960ish one. 'nuff said) The Shining (Stanley Kubrick) Silence of the Lambs Jacob's Ladder Ringu (japanese version is waaaay better) Saw I & II are the best in the series. Although I am a huge fan, like them all. Both have amazing twists. I am not a gore fan at all (i think it's cheap horror), but these two films have very good storyline. The gore is not bad, in III-V there is more emphasis on gore rather than the twist or storyline. I love good psychological horror movies. I don't quite get gore fests like Hostel or Hills Have Eyes etc.

Shining is an overrated piece of kachda. Omen I and II kick it like no other as does the Exorcist. 30 days of night is good and the best horror movie I've seen in a while was The Mist. The first Grudge had it's moments as well.

:omg:its a classic book and an equally good movie.the mist is your favourite????.just because it doesnt follow a convential horror movie "plot" doesnt mean its not scary and a great movie.i guess you have to appreciate nicholson to really appreciate the movie, its more than a scary movie.
