BCCI makes no provision to play against Pakistan till 2020 By: Bipin Dani | Published: June 22, 2009 MUMBAI - If the Future Tours Programme (FTP) post-2012 drawn out by the Indian cricket board is to be believed, Team India will not play any bilateral series against Pakistan till 2020. According to the London-based sources, the Indian cricket board has made no provision to play against Pakistan between 2012 and 2020. Shocking indeed. It is to be seen how the ICC, PCB and other board members would react to this stance taken by the BCCI in the next-week scheduled CEC and Board meeting. The CEC and the ICC Board members have to continue the process of considering the future landscape of the game at international level. The current FTP concludes in May 2012. The ICC is committed to ensuring any new FTP achieves a balance between and a proper context for all three formats (Tests, ODIs' and Twenty20) of the game as well as identifies the financial and other issues of imbalance among Members. The coming week ICC meetings are likely to be stormy as the PCB is set to oppose the FTP drawn out by the BCCI. The PCB chief Ijaz Butt is also likely to raise the security levels in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka for the 2011 World Cup. Link to comment
cowboysfan
i dont know if 2020 is the right way to go but we have the right not to play them in pakistan and the hostility towards the pakistan team might be too much right now in India. It does seem excessive to me though. Link to comment
Chandan
Since when did individual boards start chalking their individual FTPs? Isn't it the job of ICC and then individuals have a say if they'd have a 2 test series or 3, 4 or 5? I thought only meaningless ODI series like the one we're having in WI or had in Lanka earlier this year are planned by the mutual understanding of two individual! And BCCI planning for FTP that too from 2012 onwards to 2020? Isn't that a shocking news? Normally we don't know the dates and venues of a test series prior to 6 months ! Link to comment

Maybe since last time when Aus and Eng had double the play time and more tours in their base (which generates money for the cricket boards) than India and the rest. I am guessing that all the boards make some sort of an arrangement and the ICC makes the final decision. Anyway, this is a good decision. I cannot be bothered watching Pak cricket when they are training their children to kill us. Link to comment

Tapioca
The ICC is committed to ensuring any new FTP achieves a balance between and a proper context for all three formats (Tests, ODIs' and Twenty20) Should read "for all four formats (Tests, ODIs' Twenty20 and IPL)" Link to comment
King Tendulkar
Should cut of all ties not just cricket with Jihadi neighbours. Until they show they are not jihadi neighbours Link to comment
fineleg
Ind-Pak matches are boring these days, so no big deal. However, I dont think ICC will agree to India just saying no bilateral cricket till 2020 Link to comment

Texy
Better than bombing your neighbours I say no point in telling him, he rather risk lives of our cricketers than seeing us not play the terrorist nation. BCCI should also make sure, no pak players get into IPL next year also.... they can form their own PPL with afghanistan and bangladesh. Link to comment
suraj
What does bombing and terrorism has to do with cricket? Stop being ignorant You still have time Sudhar Ja:eyedance: If the Sri Lankan team had died in the attack in Pakistan wud you have guts to say the same words to its widows and orphans?? Note that PCB administrators actually lodged a complaint against umpires who said they were left there to die by Pakistani security on way to the match and most of Pakistan spent less time in denouncing the attack (:rolleyes2:) and more time criticising the umpires I really wanna see how you make these sudhar ja statements when your father, mother and siblings are being killed rather than those of others WE will see who is being ignorant then! ritwik
This is a correct stance to take. Indians should use all resources at their command to tell the Pakis that we're serious this time. There have been numerous instances in the past with terror attacks [Red fort, Parliament etc] where India has been aggressive for sometime and then backed down in favour of talks and composite dialogues -- look where that has gotten us! No point in making the PCB rich [they earn a lot more in bilaterial series with India than with any other nation] while the ISI/military nexus plans the next terrorist attack. Link to comment
CricketGirl
There's 2 sides to this - bettering the relationship with Pakistan through cricket and other means of entertainment - film imdustry music etc to prevent further tension between the 2 countries (which realistically is a dream for people who have the this hum sab bhai bhai crappy illusion) we are long way away from any of this happening! The other side of it is the safety and security of our players and everyone else that surrounds them (coaches umpires fans management PR team Media etc) - Personally safety comes first!! its not worth risking the safety and well being of our team and everyone else for the sake of cricket and pakistan are not the only team in the world India can play!
