'You must come to Pakistan' - Younis Khan

Recommended Posts

WTF Just because they won the T20 WC, they think they have the balls to say this They almost had an International team and staff killed. Which team in their sane mind would even think about stepping into that hell BCCI - do a favor and get these jokers isolated for good

"I am requesting to all of the countries: 'You must come to Pakistan'," Younis said. "Everybody knows law and order is not good but it is not our fault. Especially for youngsters, we need home series because everywhere there is no cricket in Pakistan. How can we motivate the youngsters, especially at school level and college level? I think this will be helping us build a new structure in Pakistan for our future.

It's very easy to beat up Younis Khan for these kind of comments but you have to understand where he is coming from. It's no secret that Pakistan as a country and as a cricket team has seen more lows than highs over the past couple of years and such a win means a lot to the nation probably. Younis is not stupid to not realize that it's not like some team is going to hop on to a plane and go to Pakistan tomorrow. He probably knows as well as you or I that Pakistan is not going to see any international cricket at least for another 3-4 years. But as a captain of their cricket team, he is well within his rights to start the process of making others' comfortable with touring Pakistan.

He is no security expert etc. etc. - he is obviously making an emotional statement. The decision of when and if a country tours Pakistan is going to be made at a lot of other and higher levels.

YK is a good guy though.. he has geniune respect for the game.. he could become a good statesman for his country.. and anyone from subcontinent quits after winning a cup is respectable..
well he wil still get the accolades n bouquets.he had made this decision before the tournament started n i dont see how winning this tournament is gonna affect his decision

even if it is an emotional statement, there has to be some merit to it.atm he is just sounding plain stupid.he is saying that come to a country where cricketers have been targeted recently n just escaped death just bcoz Children have no cricket to see.who in the right minds would listen to him?

Lord, he is sounding stupid to all outside Pakistan. But this makes him a much bigger hero inside Pakistan. They dont need reason, do they? What kind of an ambassador admits that law and order are bad and invites foreign teams in the same sentence?
