Desi Cartman Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 TBH as grand kids its easier to accept this but its very difficult for the children. My dadi/ grandmother who is 85+ had 2 heart operations last month and my dad was so stressed. We all know that she is too old but still as a child you can never let go of your parents :(( I tried speaking with my mum but she is not in a condition to speak. She herself is diabetic and hasnt eaten anything since last 8 hrs. I am worried about her but at the same time its important that she grieves as she wants . I wish I was there :((

When my grandfather passed away 9 years ago my mother was a wreck. Her eyes still fill up when she thinks or talks about her father. 100% true daisy, children have a lot more difficulty (whatever be the age) to deal with the loss of a parent.
Riley's Girl Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 My grandmother died about 3 years ago from a sudden heart attack. She was healthy right up to that moment. We lost my grandfather to cancer about 11 years before her death and she always said that she didn't want to go through that, so it's good that she didn't have to suffer illness. I'm blessed to still have my other set of grandparents, who I see every day.

She struggles through her parents' birthdays every year since their respective deaths.

Living overseas we dont have any family around .. so yes I can only talk with friends ie you guys (- flamy) We understand that flamy is a bit more special to you. YOu really didn't have to bring that up at this difficult moment, we understand completely.
Desi Cartman Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 My mom is the same. She struggles through her parents' birthdays every year since their respective deaths. I also remember my nana's bday and his death anniversary. I was very young (12 -13) when he passed away but I somehow always remember him on those days
Riley's Girl Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Thanks all for the wishes .. Living overseas we dont have any family around .. so yes I can only talk with friends ie you guys (- flamy) That's just one of the reasons for us being here. :icflove:
Malcolm Merlyn Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Amazing No one knows each other than the pseudo - random nickname they post through, yet when something like this happens, people will be lining up to offer their condolences / prayers The sense of togetherness is amazing. So distant, yet so close. Thats the one thing I like about this place definately thatz one thing i love about ICF and has been addicted to it.............
Desi Cartman Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 We understand that flamy is a bit more special to you. YOu really didn't have to bring that up at this difficult moment' date=' we understand completely.[/quote'] Anything for a smile ...

I was very young (12 -13) when he passed away but I somehow always remember him on those days Those dates just get stuck in your mind. Where you might have forgotten about a birthday while that person was alive, you somehow never forget once they are gone. Which is good, because isn't immortality being remembered by those you left behind?
EnterTheVoid Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 My parents are with me My parent's parents, mother and father side, are in India, all alone, their sons and daughters grown up, married, scattered all over the world The one regret I have = Not spending enough time with them. I haven't seen them for five years and in the position I find myself in, I don't think I will see them in the forseeable future.
EnterTheVoid Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 My parents worry about them. They are all alone with no one to look after them. They cry. Seeing them cry makes me cry.

Sree I know the feeling. When my dad was sick couple of months ago I was so stressed . I couldnt go cuz he was not in danger but wanted to go since he wasnt all well plus he wanted to visit me in a couple of months. Living overseas suck at these times...
Riley's Girl Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 My grandmother passed away on Feb 14th. :(( My best friend's brother also died on Feb 14th. When people die on days like these where everybody is celebrating and having fun it just gets harder to deal with the loss. And those days become extra sad and lonely
flamy Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Condolences DC bhai. Respect to her resolve :hatsoff: May her soul rest in peace.
