Texy
John Dyson gets sacked a month before Champions trophy and WI will send their A side to the tournament inspite of main players being available for selection! wth is going on with WI cricket??? Link to comment
King Tendulkar
He got sacked for losing against bangla. What a farce Link to comment
DomainK
This is shocking to say the least. He probably was the only person attempting to do something constructive. WICB has become such a farce. I think it will be good if they dissolve WICB and allow the different countries to have their own teams. They can't do ant worse than this. Link to comment
King Tendulkar
I have a theory. The players ( the first team that is), liked him, he was popular with them. So the board to spite them and make them feel guilty for boycotting bangla games, then sack him to spite them and make them feel bad for missing games Link to comment
Sachinism
He deserved it, he lost them the game against England because he couldn't count. WI cricket is a mess at the moment. Something needs to be done to save it. Kids in WI are already turning to basketball and seeing this mess even more are going to turn away from cricket. Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
WI cricket is officially dead. I have no hopes of a revival. Not when other sports offer more money with better organization and less inter-island politicking. Link to comment
The Outsider
WI cricket is officially dead. I have no hopes of a revival. Not when other sports offer more money with better organization and less inter-island politicking. Yup, I had hopes till maybe even a year back, not anymore. Once the Sarwan/Chanderpaul generation goes they are going to be as poor as Bangladesh. What I don't understand is that it should be common sense for WICB members to understand that without WI cricket being competitive they would be out of jobs as well. Link to comment
Texy
don't forget about couple of exciting cricketers who has just emerged in the int'l arena.... Dwayne Bravo's brother DARREN BRAVO and Lendl Simmons! Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
Oh come on prof. You've seen how these guys act. They have the maturity of 3 year olds and the intellectual capacity of Shahid Afridi after a few blows to the head. Cause rifts with their players, decide they're unable to pay them and then use the same money to run advertisements knocking their players/defending their board in the media, etc, etc. There's not one iota of common sense among all those folks combined. With administrators like those it's no wonder WI cricket is in free fall. Link to comment
cowboysfan
Its time for an ICC intervention.they cant sit idly and watch this happen.Cricket will be poorer if we dont have west indies cricketers. Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
The ICC is only marginally more competent than the WICB. Link to comment

Windies leave out stars for Champions Trophy Bridgetown, August 18, 2009 First Published: 15:57 IST(18/8/2009) Last Updated: 16:02 IST(18/8/2009) West Indies will be without its leading players for the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa next month. The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) on Monday again left out the players who chose to strike during the test, one-day and Twenty20 series against Bangladesh in July in the Caribbean. Former skipper Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Dwayne Bravo and Jerome Taylor are the main stars absent. The side will again be led by 37-year-old Floyd Reifer and includes two uncapped players in all-rounder Royston Crandon and wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton. Walton, a Jamaican who represents the Combined Colleges & Campuses, appeared in both tests against Bangladesh but did not appear in the limited overs matches. Crandon, 26, is a hard-hitting right-hander and off-spinner from Guyana. West Indies has also recalled fast bowlers Tino Best and Daren Powell. Best also played in the tests against Bangladesh but has not appeared in one-dayers since May 2006. Powell, who declared his unavailability for the Bangladesh series, returns for the first time since last March against England in the Caribbean. West Indies squad: Floyd Reifer (capt), Darren Sammy, David Bernard, Tino Best, Royston Crandon, Travis Dowlin, Andre Fletcher, Nikita Miller, Daren Powell, Kieran Powell, Dale Richards, Kemar Roach, Devon Smith, Gavin Tonge, Chadwick Walton (wk). yoda
now this is where the ICC should step in. what is the point of sending a B team and ruining the tournament? Link to comment
Desi Cartman
I read on the WICB forum that players are at fault since they are lazy , not try hard enough , rude etc. I am confused Link to comment

The Outsider
Superb article by Roebuck : http://www.witness.co.za/index.php?showcontent&global[_id]=27924 And so the bickering continues. In the 1970s the West Indians extracted every last dollar they could from tours — they were in demand and could name their price. Nowadays no one really cares about them. Plain as day the time has come to leave Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Guyana to their own devices. Let them produce proud national teams. The West Indies have served their purpose. In any case, the dream of confederation died long ago. The players are not worth the bother. The administration is incompetent. It’s over. Everyone is sick and tired of the West Indians. South Africa ought to withdraw its invitation to take part in the Champion’s Trophy. Let Ireland come instead — at least they want to play. West Indies have been treating cricket badly for years. It’s high time the favour was returned. Link to comment
