. . . . . . What would you do if you're driving and you find out your brakes arent working anymore? :nervous: Specify if using automatic or manual. Can you take out your key when the car is running?

if you take out key ... you steering wheel will get stiff because it runs on power pully breaks will get hard also. if auto try using hand break & put the car in lower gear IE:- 3-2-1 & use hand break as well same applys to manal but don't hold the clutch for too long ... It happened to me once when i was ( Semi 18 wheeler ) driving on hwy 40 from LA to Tx my trailers air tank got hit with rock and i lost all my air when i tried using truck brakes my i burned my oil caps .. then i started to use lower gear and used truck hand brake and i was able to stop

No clue about an automatic, but in a manual transmission just lower down your gears one by one and the car will come to a near halt. I have never been able to understand the "brake fail" chases in Hindi movies. In an automatic, besides using the hand brake(not sure if it's tied to the same mechanism) just try to push the damn gear in reverse. You'll probably kill your car but save your life.

When brakes fail in hindi movies generally the traffic gets heavy and our hero has a panic attack and loses control over the car. Now its the same guy who is cool headed when dodging bullets but he is not the same behind the wheel when faced with adversity. :winky:

Automatic - put your gear in neutral and then use the handbrakes.
putting a car in neutral is not a good idea... neutral will release the gears and car will roll faster ... just put car in lower gear & use hand brake automatic is much easier to stop then manual.

This thread is excellent consumer advice for a automobile noob like me. :stupid: Btw, If your brake fails while you are driving, you could either try out any of the various methods suggested by the posters here (or) you could take a deep breath, relax, light a cigarette, put on your coolers, keep saying ‘Mashallah I haz been pwned!’ abd laugh like a lunatic till you crash into something and die. P.S: Sorry, couldnt resist saying that. :giggle:
