The Outsider Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Hmmm ok I take back that Afridi is as good as Bradman, b/c he not just as good but he's actually better than Bradman. Afridis are rare, very rare. Who got the fastest century under his belt? Afridi or Bradman. Who has more or highest number of sixes in cricket? Afridi or Bradman? Who won T20 championship for his country? :--D Afridi or Bradman? I wouldn't even bother comparing Afridi with any Indian player as Bradman >>> any Indian player & Afridi >>>>>Bradman!! All hail the beast!!! :yay: I think it's time to bump the Agarkar is more tailunted than Akram thread.

Malcolm Merlyn Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 How is it trolling? I am not insulting your players. Why is it so offensive to you guys when someone admires Afridi? Seems like your IQ goes down the drain when the word Afridi or Pakistan is mentioned in any thread. i dont think any one will stop u if u say wasim or waqar or inzy or saqlain in his peak or imran were great.............u insult ur own batting greats when you say afridi is better than that........... if u has insulted our players u wuld hv been kicked out before u cld say the word insult....... unlike pakis we consider trolling againist all teams and players,bt u guys only see the green

Zelig Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Afridi to captain against WI Younis ruled out of opening match Pakistan captain Younis Khan has been ruled out of the team's opening match of the Champions Trophy, against West Indies in Johannesburg on Wednesday, after suffering a hairline fracture on the little finger of his right hand. He picked up the injury while fielding in Pakistan's second warm-up match against the Warriors in Benoni, when he and wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal went for a catch in the slips. Shahid Afridi will lead the side in his place, while Younis will start batting from tomorrow in the hopes of being fit for Pakistan's next game, against India in Centurion on Saturday.

King Tendulkar Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 I know the reason why. He is the player who connects the best with a big proportion of Pakistani fans through his animal instincts and the so called wild side. I recently read somewhere the certain activities like the Bull run in Pamplona, Spain are so popular because it helps man recreate some of the primeval instincts in his brain. When the bull chases those people, it creates a sensation very similar to that of a lion or tiger chasing humans thousands of years ago, when he was still in his first stage of evolution, living in the wild and hunting for food. It seems those sensations are still mapped in the human brain and when re-created, gives us some sort of raw bliss. Afridi has a very similar effect on Pakistanis. For him, cricket isn’t a game of skill, its game to see who can swing the hardest. When he picks up a bat everytime, he doesn’t see it as a bat, but as a club. Unfortunately, other humans has moved far past those basic instincts and evolved into intelligent beings capable of something other animals aren’t capable of – The process of thought. Remarkably, a big proportion of Pakistanis seem to have missed this significant milestone in human evolution, seeing that most of them cant think past ‘phaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast’, ‘mph, kph…’etc. So, they couldn’t care less if he loses them a million matches with brain-dead attitude, but if he connects the odd swing and lands the ball outside the stadium or rips in a hard/fast through from deep mid-wicket, even if it was only for a comfortable single, that makes their day. I think this post is along the right lines. I feel some scientific research needs to be conducted regarding the pakistani mindset and their idolisiation of a poor cricket player. As to rest of the world this fascination of a pants player is frankly baffling.
