ROFL - Miandad calls the Champions Trophy pitches dangerous!

He wants them to be more like the roads they call pitches in Pakistan. Where scoring 350 doesn't mean you are safe. Where a test match could go on for 8 days and still we wouldn't have a result.

Why, because I should be used to the diet of 300+ scores and flat pitches that encourage cowlashers and wild swinging throught the line that has become a norm in ODI cricket? The batting was largely pants, aside from England's first hour against some superb bowling that not much could be done about with the new ball kicking up occasionally and seaming a lot. Collingwood, Guptill and McCullum showed that it's not impossible to make runs with some application and brains, that too even score runs quickly. But really, the dismissals of Shah, Morgan, Collingwood, Wright, Swann, McCullum, Elliott, Hopkins and Broom were either down to a substandard technique (particularly vs the short ball, that will get anyone found out on a more challenging wicket) or some stupid shots. This wasn't a bad wicket by any means, it made the bowlers an integral part of the game and what both teams needed were some tougher grafters like a Dravid, Younis, Kallis or Chanderpaul who would have in all likelihood been clutch players on such a pitch. Instead we got most of the NZ middle order unable to handle a short ball with a bit of movement, and Shah, Morgan and Collingwood unable to judge what were appropriate shots for the conditions or situations.

Hardly surprising that Ponting whines about these pitches. Did you see his post-match interview after Australia's loss in the Oval test, where he immediately started taking shots at the wicket (despite it playing quite well and Australia's own shortcomings being the only thing responsible for the asskicking they received)?

Miandad is right. Pitches at Wanderers are not doing any favour for the survival of ODIs.
hmm so u say a flat pitch at the centurion for day night matches is good for ODI cricket .. u end up on the wrong side of toss u will know .. SL, india and SA can confirm this !!
