Mr. Wicket
I always felt Bevan was a bit overrated. Very good at nudging, nurdling and building partnerships and anchoring a chase, but could never take the initiative in one. What was his strike rate chasing vs. those sorts of totals, Gambo? mhr123
Bevan was not spectacular chasing 275+ totals. 300+ CHASES Sachin Tendulkar averages 41 with a SR of 98 with 1 100 and 7 50s from 24 matches when chasing 300+ totals against non minnows. 65(59) 4(7) 27(28) 41(26) 32(31) 18(28) 26(25) 93(89) 62(38) 14(19) 4(5) 89(91) 27(40) 141(135) 78(103) 6(11) 9(15) 94(81) 16(25) 72(72) 30(27) 2(3) 27(33) 8(14) Rahul Dravid averages 33 with a SR of 82 with 2 100s and 3 50s from 25 matches when chasing 300+ totals against non minnows. 107(116) 1(1) 1(1) 29(35) 39(43) 63(82) 17(21) 7(10) 5(12) 109*(124) 3(8) 47(57) 34(34) 0(11) 36(45) 5(9) 1(8) 28(30) 19(29) 4(5) 31(48) 7(13) 47(56) 76(103) 79(70) Again, contrary to what is believed, Tendulkar easily outperforms a rather mediocre Dravid in 300+ chases. Perception, in this case, isn't reality. Hey Gambo .. just to Shut few Pakis mouth .. they think Inzi is a better batsmans than SRT and a better finisher .. can u just put his stats while chasing. Sooda
I remember Bevan doing well in a high scoring chase once agasint a World Xi side, and he scored 180ish. Im not sure they won it in the end though. Might have been Asia Xi vs RoTW or something... 7 or 8 years ago. I can filter average for all chases, but like Sanjay, cant get it for just 275+ totals and only vs Non Minnows off the cricinfo Anal Lysis thingy... Link to comment

Mark Waugh started the chase is great fashion with some spectacular cover drives. The Bevan played a brilliant knock, but I think they fell short?? Link to comment
Gambit
Michael Bevan - Average of 43 at a SR of 83 with 1 100s and 2 50s from 17 matches. 40 (43) 103 (95) 29 (27) 65 (82) 8 (14) 6 (9) * 45 (59) * 61 (80) 49 (56) 6 (11) 5 (9) 3 (4) * 41 (51) 31 (40) 18 (28) 41 (43) * 12 (20) Bevan not as good as he was considered in the face of large chases. Some cheap not outs have padded his average. Inzamam - Average of 35 at a SR of 83 with 2 100s and 5 50s from 32 matches. 2 (3) 15 (15) 10 (29) 12 (20) 67 (56) 1 (5) 6 (11) 6 (16) 30 (32) 33 (65) 116 (110) * 3 (6) 12 (21) 37 (101) 3 (7) 26 (30) 25 (39) 6 (13) 49 (63) 67 (81) 122 (102) 38 (51) 76 (59) * 4 (4) 75 (75) 30 (31) 37 (58) 16 (13) 60 (59) * 13 (18) 16 (19) 15 (18) Pretty low average considering the hype around the greatest maschwinna and player of phasst bowling. :giggle: Link to comment

I remember when he was a n00b to the team, there were many times him and Yuvraj finished games off for us with some decent scores Link to comment

I remember when he was a n00b to the team' date=' there were many times him and Yuvraj finished games off for us with some decent scores[/quote'] ofcourse he did play some great innings n hes a great finisher but i was responding to comparison with SRT.he remained not out in lot of games bit like Klusener used to.finishing of a game is a credit to him but saying he is best while chasing purely on average is a bit unfair on SRT imo.he wouldnt have as many not outs because hes an opener Link to comment

Shane
Gambo, can we have Dada's stats? For 275+ and 300 +, btw did you get this from CI, if yes please enlighten me on how you passed the query? Link to comment
nikred
So if we consider minimum of 50 as a successful innings, while chasing large targets Tendulkar has a success rate of 34% while Inzi has 22%. To all the people who say Tendulkar can't handle pressure. :finger: Link to comment
