DomainK Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Pakistan is a strange country. Terrorists roam free, cricketers get grounded for dropped catches. Human life has less value than a catch.
Sachinism Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Top Pakistani MP alleges underperformed on purpose The head of Pakistan's national parliamentary committee on sports has accused the team of deliberately losing to Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy in a group match and has called for changes in the national cricket board. He has also said he would summon the board chief and captain before parliament. "There is evidence that the team lost the match to Australia on purpose," Jamshed Khan Dasti said. "It underperformed. Then against New Zealand also there are signs the team didn't want to win. "We have been told by some respected and senior people and we are also trying to collect evidence that there might have been some hanky panky in the match against Australia and New Zealand." Pakistan lost to Australia off the final ball of the match after setting them a target of 206. In the semi-final, they lost to New Zealand after setting them a target of 234. However some dodgy umpiring decisions cost them in their innings - Umar Akmal was given out lbw for 55 though replays showed the ball hit the pads off a thick inside edge. Younis said he was bitterly disappointed with the Champions Trophy exit as he had wanted to gift his country the trophy that had been shifted from Pakistan to South Africa because of security concerns. He said there were many reasons for the team's defeat to New Zealand, including his dropped catch, missed run-outs and poor umpiring but that finishing in the top four was a positive sign. ICC sources, meanwhile, told Cricinfo that its Anti Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) is yet to conclude investigations about the games in question involving Pakistan. However, it's understood that the unit has not done anything extraordinary (on the games in question) other than the normal set of procedures meant for every game. http://www.cricinfo.com/pakistan/content/current/story/428570.html So cricinfo finally has a story. :nervous: Pakistan in trouble?
DeXteR Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 guys i heard match fixing allegations against pak team on zee news just now...

saneindian Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 LOL the useless indian media having a lot of fun degrading the pak team thru their match fixing allegations. Our padosis went wild and celebrated when Indian media went after Dhoni and our players after the 26th Sept loss, now its payback time poyzzzz.
Bumper Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Back to this news, these sound bites are a compulsory part of the Pakistani Circus Board's agenda. You lose you have to sack somebody. But am seriously worried about this Pak minister. This guy is really deluded. Does he think that this Pak team is so good that it cannot lose a game ?
EnterTheVoid Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Bumper, remember that "method to madness" post you did some time ago ? Pak lose = ; Pak win = ; .. etc Could you do an update ? :nice:
riya Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Pakistan is a strange country. Terrorists roam free' date=' cricketers get grounded for dropped catches. Human life has less value than a catch.[/quote'] :haha:So true. The officials/Govt has no accountability whatsoever.Visiting cricket team has attacked in broad day light making an absolute mockery of the security and no responsible reaction other than blame game, conspiracy theories. Now a catch had been dropped and all the hoopla.
coffee_rules Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I fail to understand why should they be penalised for underperforming against Aus. They can do it to keep India out. It's not a sin and they are not the first team to do it. NZ underperformed in 2002 against SA to keep Aus out of B&H. Akram's Pak had done in 1998 to keep India out of test championship. So, what'e the BFD?

And it's immoral and unethical because you are in direct breach of confidence of the country you are representing, it's people and all the cricket fans around the world.
coffee_rules Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Now it gets better for the laughs... Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha.. India had a hand in Pakistan's defeat: Pak minister KARACHI: A senior Sindh minister on Tuesday accused India of influencing umpires to get Pakistan ousted from the Champions Trophy semifinal in \ Muhammad Ali Shah, the minister for Sports and a member of the Pakistan Cricket Board governing council, suspected India's role in the sub-standard umpiring, leading to Pakistan's defeat against New Zealand. "Definitely, it is clear that India were miffed at not qualifying for the semi-finals after Pakistan lost to Australia and they took their revenge in their own way. They influenced the umpires to favour New Zealand," Shah said. Australian umpire Simon Taufel had wrongly adjudged Umar Akmal leg-before-wicket at a crucial stage of the match and even admitted to the mistake and apologised later. Shah said he would not refrain from pressing the PCB to see that the International Cricket Council impose at least a one-year ban on Taufel. "Taufel must be banned. He was against Pakistan," Shah fumed. :rotfl: The minister, however, dismissed allegations by the Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports Jamshed Khan Dasti that Pakistan had deliberately lost the matches to Australia and New Zealand for ulterior motives. "Nothing of that sort happened in South Africa. We fought till the end against Australia and against New Zealand we got some very bad decisions," he said. Wasim Bari, the chief operating officer of the board also said that he was surprised at Dasti's statement made to some television channels on Monday night. "All I can say that the Champions Trophy is an ICC and it is their property and they organize it so we don't want to comment on something which is not our territory," Bari said. He said that the ICC anti-corruption and security unit kept a close watch on the tournament and it was their responsibility to ensure it was clean. "Since the ACSU is there to ensure there is no corruption in any match we are not in a position to make any comments on the allegations by Dasti," he said.
