Zaheer is better of course. Just thought its a nice way to compare in matches where they have both played- so same oppo, conditions etc In 66 matches Nehra 90 wickets at 30.36 and ER of 5.11 Zaheer 101 wickets at 28.12 and ER of 5. I refined that so it just goes back two years...r In 15 matches Nehra 18 wickets at 39.94 and ER of 6.67 Zaheer 17 wkts at 40.52 and ER of 5.4 Now in comparision with the other first choice ODI bowler Praveen Kumar Over the last 2 years, thats 24 ODIs Nehra 36 wickets @ 32 and ER of 6.04 Kumar 26 wickets @ 37.7 and ER of 5.23 So if Nehra has not exactly set the house on fire, he certainly has not been much worse than Zaheer. More expensive that is true but just as good a better wicket taker...and a significantly better one than Praveen, if again more expensive This is of course ignoring the intangibles like what effect having the other paceman at the other end or generally on the pitch had on each of their bowling forms in those matchs and on the batsmen they were bowling to...

vvvslaxman Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Nehra's strike rate is somewhat better. Got three 4 wicket haul. He is far from perfect. So are others. Atleast he picks up openers regularly. 27 out of his 61 wickets in the last 2 years are openers.
