triam Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 The worst part is this is not the first time, there have numerous times where players, coaches etc have been fired and read it in the media. There have been articles about this before too, but they do the same thing again and again.

satishg Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 hmm just a year back after the home series against Australia, we were singing praises about Prasad saying that he is doing wonders with our young bowling attack because our bowlers were achieving reverse swing as early as the 11th over or so. Now with Ishant's form deserting him and Zaheer injured and RP wayward bowling, we have made a mockery out of Venkatesh Prasad. I feel sorry for Prasad.

Pace is a natural thing that comes to the bowler and it is very hard to add a pace to bowler's natural run up and action. If you try to tweak his run-up and action to get that extra pace, you might actually make him even more worse. And what is the hype about bowling at pace ? Not sure if it impresses you, I think that probably puts him above 99% of those who want to be a coach cause they played once.

And lets stop calling him coach, he was fired as bowling coach.
riya Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Well I am not so sure about Prasad's coaching abilities.But none of our bowlers can bowl yorkers to save their lives.Whose fault is that? I don't support the accusation that Prasad is the soul reason for IS dropping pace.He has been over used in almost all the matches,useless ODI serieses,T20s.He has been playing non stop which contributed his downfall.Bowlers need adequate rest,players like IS should be used wisely.

When a recognized bowling coach like Alan Donald can't reform Sreesanth out of his bad habits when who can. Utimately Prasad is responsible for the bowling and as our bowlers have under performed and been poor he has to bear the burden here. But he's not at fault. There's a big difference between responsiblity and blame. It's a results driven industry. Best of luck to Prasad in his future and good luck to the new bowling coach in trying to get anything out of our injury prone, frail and useless young bowlers. No coach, no matter how great can turn a donkey into a stallion.
cowboysfan Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 its time for a big change in our approach to limited overs cricket in terms of our bowling..our bowlers need to learn how to bowl when conditions are unfavourable to them.its one thing to succeed in australia and england when the conditions help you but we need them to be a factor on flat wickets too instead of being a liability to our teams fortunes. we have a great batting lineup whose occasional slipups in bilateral series are masked because they usually rebound and do enough to win the series(inspite of our bowlers).the problem becomes magnified in tournaments where one slip up can mean that you are going home as the bowlers are not holding up there end of the bargain.the next world cup is in the sub-continent and we need our bowlers to bowl better at the death,bowl yorkers etc.,all the things they are incapable of doing now.we need a new coach to teach them these things.if they cant learn then we need to move on to players who can do it .
