1. Prasad: "There was never a single moment in my two-and-a-half years with the Indian team when I told them to drop pace." 2. When a recognized bowling coach like Alan Donald can't reform Sreesanth out of his bad habits when who can. Utimately Prasad is responsible for the bowling and as our bowlers have under performed and been poor he has to bear the burden here. But he's not at fault. There's a big difference between responsiblity and blame. It's a results driven industry. Best of luck to Prasad in his future and good luck to the new bowling coach in trying to get anything out of our injury prone, frail and useless young bowlers. No coach, no matter how great can turn a donkey into a stallion.
Good point. Donald worked with Sree for couple of weeks and had the audacity of coming out and blaming Sree's work ethics. Is it really ethical of him to do so ? I understand he was his temporary coach but lambasting his student in front of media (who is already waiting for such quotes on one of the notorious Indian cricketer) is just not done. Prasad could've done the same when he was in charge, citing bowlers' work habits, their inability to comprehend the art of bowling in death overs and what not. I am not saying Donald was lying about Sreesanth, but I don't think it is fair for him to judge Sreesanth on the basis of 2-3 weeks that he spent coaching him.

I dont think hiding faults will help in improving a bowler's performance.. it is good that Donald came public with it.. he also added that Sree has potential but needs to change his work ethics.. I dont see anything wrong with that statement

So Prasad would have been good coach by pointing the mistakes/lack of ability of our bowlers in the media every week ? How would that work on the bowlers' confidence ? When one is assigned a task, it is a given that he won't be working with perfect men at all the times. He has to be good enough to fulfill that task by working with the given men at his disposal despite their work ethics. It's called man-management.

Donald was englands bowling coach when we won last in time round in England in tests, Prasad was our bowling coach. So basically the head to head of the two bowlinbg coaches is that Prasad owns Donald. Yet now everyone wants Donald as coach. Sree bowled superbly in that tour and out gunned the bowlers coached by Donald. Donald is still bitter:--D Donald was also totally out of order in slating sree in public. He coached sree, if any issues tell Sree, why run to the the press shooting your mouth of and you guys want this loser as coach:((

It was just aimed generally at all those billing up Donald, even though it seems Prasad out coached him in england tour:hysterical: Also good luck to the new fielding coach when we field the tin man Munaf Patel and Bugs bunny Nehra in same odi team.:hysterical: I hope it is Johnty who becomes the fileding coach, as I watch with great intrest to see how he tranforms these two in the field:hysterical:

ok .. my mistayke :--D how about a javelin coach... Pont said he judged Atul Sharma's speed from the words of a javelin coach and said that javelin is too similar to fast bowling .. read his following post in the last thread
Javelin and cricket are SOOOOOO related! Anyway that's another story... as for the speeds, they are reported back to me by Atul himself and his other coaches so I take them as the speeds he has bowled. I live in the UK, not India or the USA, so have to trust the judgement of others on these matters.

Fast bowlers should lean and mean they say. Genuine fast bowlers should have some kind of skills also. They become deadly when they combine their skills and variation. Let us look at the skills of our fast bowlers 1) Zaheer - Decent yorker, can swing both ways, reasonably accurate, decent surprise bouncer, ability to bowl with accuracy both round the wicket and over the wicket 2) Munaf Decent yorker, reasonably accurate, decent good length bowler 3) Sreesanth Good outswing bowler, decent slower one, willing to pitch it up even if goes for runs 4) Ishant Excellent inswinging delivery at pace , ability to hit the same spot when in rythm 5) RP Singh Excellent swing bowler under helpful conditions 6) Irfan Pathan Has superb inswingers to righties and outswinger to lefties. These are the skills they have to work with. Most of the bowlers have one or two skills. But most of them don't possess the skills that is requierd for one dayers. Above skills are useful on a good day. On a bad day they have nothing to fall back on.

I agree with you abt Donald criticism of Sreenath....but abt Prasad.... When was the last time when an Indian coach came out in the open with honest criticizm of Indian players..... Thats why we shdnt have Indians as Coaches... Its all good when things are going well but when the need comes to put the foot down in the best interest of the team we Indians are very incompetent. Its a cultural thing.....

How did Allan Donald all of a sudden become the best candidate for bowling coach? didn't he recently work with England? was there any significant improvement?
