Zap_Brannigan
Doesnt SRK play a lot of sikh roles? Its probably just the nature of movies they do. Hrithik was more open towards unusual roles when he started but the khans started out with romantic movies. When the story doesnt demand a religion, they go with the majority i.e hindu in India. Kinda like whites in hollywood.

The Outsider
Sooda and Zap have made good points - the usual run of the mill roles in your average movies don't really care about the religion of the person so by default it's a Hindu in line with the majority population. It's only when something specific to a community or social issues is being depicted that the religion of the protagonist assumes importance. By the underlying assumption that something thoughtful is being depicted, Muslim roles would appear more challenging. BTW, Shah Rukh Khan's role in Hey Ram was pretty good - short and devoid of hamming.
coffee_rules
To please his wife... ...just kiddin. On the other hand, the Muslim dudes like Salman khan, aamir khan haven't played a muslim character AFAIK and shahrukh played only once in Chak de (plus now obviously in My name is Kkkkkhan) Aamir Khan played one in 'Earth' - a paki at that. Also, recently in Fanaa - a PoK terrorist.
urbestfriend
Wahts the point of this thread? we shouldn't be like padosis trying to find religion in every aspect of our life. Most of us never think about the religion of hero when watching a movie and It should be good that way only.
