Yes , I am. Sachin has played 1 match in 2006-07 and no matches in 2007-08, 2 matches last year and no matches this year. i.e 3 matches in 4 years as opposed to 10 matches by 'THE GREATEST WALL". No complaints though!

Ishant Sharma’s return to the domestic fold — after being dropped from the Bangladesh tour of India — will see him joining Pradeep Sangwan, Parvinder Awana, Sumit Narwal and left-arm seamer Pawan Suyal in the fray. Leg-spinner Chetnya Nanda, who has missed the entire season due to injuries, will complete the 15, subject to a fitness test on Wednesday. Named captain for a second consecutive match in the absence of Virat Kohli, Rajat Bhatia believes that the selectors have picked the right mix of players for the fixture. “We have chosen five fast bowlers because we are not sure of the kind of pitch that has been prepared at the Cricket Club of India. In case it is a green top, we will play with a fast bowling line-up. If it is a spinner friendly wicket, left-arm spinner Vikas Mishra and Chetnya Nanda — depending on his fitness — will lead the attack,” Bhatia told Sportline. Bhatia feels that five fast bowlers in the squad was the need of the hour. “Ishant will be our leading paceman, followed by Sangwan and Awana. If any of them are hit with injuries, Narwal and Suyal will fill in. I believe that this is the right combination to go into the Mumbai match with.” Delhi coach Vijay Dahiya echoes the captain’s sentiments. “While Ishant, Awana and Narwal pick themselves in the 15, Pawan is a youngster with a lot of talent and deserves his place in the side. We can never be sure about injuries hence Pawan is our backup and will add to our bench strength,” he said. Although Nanda has not played a single match due to a meniscal injury to non-bowling arm, both coach and captain are depending on the leg-spinner to rise to the occasion. “Chetnya’s inclusion is subject to fitness. As of now he can bowl and field, but we are not sure how the injury has hampered his batting. If he passes the fitness test he will be an invaluable asset to out side,” Bhatia said. “Nanda will undergo a fitness test tomorrow. He is a fine bowler and we have eagerly awaited his return. But incase his injury hampers his batting, we do not want to field 10 and a half men instead of 11,” Dahiya added. With the two teams winning the last two editions of the Ranji Trophy, Bhatia is confident of his side’s chances against the 38-time champions. “We managed to reach this stage without our key players. We were without Mithun Manhas, Aakash Chopra and Chetnya Nanda for the majority of our matches. Now with them back in the squad, it is a huge boost to our morale.” The pitch once again, will be at the centre of attention, at least as far as the final 11 is concerned.

It will be interesting to see how Ishant does against a pretty strong batting line up. I remain convinced that Ishant's drop in pace will not massively hinder his Test quality, especially since he is still occasionally touching 140kph and his accuracy has improved slightly, recently.

The Delhi team arrived on Friday afternoon and chose not to practice. Karnataka, who last won the coveted title in 1998-'99, have had an outstanding season so far, with a brood of talented youngsters performing consistently with the bat and ball. They have been the team to watch out for over the last three months, winning four Super League matches and getting the better of Punjab in the quarterfinals, by virtue of their first innings lead at Mysore last week. Manish Pandey (668 in 7 matches), KB Pawan (507 in 7), Ganesh Satish (487 in 5) and Amit Verma (482 in 7) have led Karnataka's batting onslaught, while the experience of Rahul Dravid (267 runs in 3 games) and Robin Uthappa (319 from 6) should augment the bubbling talent of the young guns who have been in blazing from right through the season.
