bharat297 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Ok so the series is gone. Australia played very well and we played poorly. Its time to look ahead to the next match and see where we can improve. Firstly, I dont see any benefit in having Munaf Patel in the side. On his best day he is decent, but even on his best day its not enough to justify his poor batting and fielding. Nehra has done ok, but I would leave him out of the next match just to see whether a young player can come in and set up My side for the next match would be: Gambhir (I think at the moment, Sehwag is a bit of a liability at opener) Tendulkar Sehwag Yuvraj Dhoni Raina Jadeja Harbhajan Misra (I think we need to pick 2 specialist spinners in Mumbai) Kumar Tyagi 12th-man : Nehra Jadeja played ok today but he never looked comfortable and I think while he has a lot of potential, he needs 3-4 seasons of domestic cricket before he can take the next step. I would play him for the next game only because its in Mumbai and the wicket will turn but I would not pick him for the next series. What would be your side for the next game?
Sooda Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 well we cant change the squad can we? so Nayyars not going to be there Whos on the 'bench'.. Kohli, Tyagi, Mishra and ..is that it Id play all of em.. Rest Tendulkar, Nehra and maybe Bhajji too. If the squad can be changed, bring in Dinesh K and Vijay.. drop/rest Gambhir and MSD.
bharat297 Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 Well if we cant change the squad then I would pick Misra instead of Munaf and Tyagi instead of Nehra. I would play Jadeja in that case, because its a Mumbai wicket and it will probably turn alot.
Zelig Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 With 20 overs of powerplay I don't think we can afford to go into a match with two specialist spinners unless it is a spinner friendly track. I would retain the same team except Mishra for Bhajji, Kohli for Jadeja, and Tyagi for Munaf.
Dinx - the Jinx Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Do we still need to play this last match :banghead:

At the moment, our best option looks like picking spinners. Besides Mumbai is usually very much a spin friendly track
DomainK Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 We should rest SRT for this dead rubber. May be experiment with a few more young players.
Desi Cartman Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I say play X batsmen and Jadeja :isalute: our bowlers are good for nothing anyway. On a serious note : Kohli GG VS YS MSD KKD jadeja PK A Mishra Tyagi Munna
saneindian Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Change of squad wont help as long our top order continues to falter. This top order is still quite good enough to do well against top quality attacks but only if they play a bit more sensibly.
Zelig Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 GOD is a must for next match. Home ground.:protest:
Dinx - the Jinx Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Is the wicket in the Patil stadium similar to Wankhade?
Sachinism Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Changes need to be made. This side is terrible, they've been given enough opportunities, now its time to move on and see if the others can do better
Lord Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 SRT GG MSD Kohli Yuvraj Raina Jadeja Mishra Nehra PK Tyagi
vvvslaxman Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Everyone didn't collectively step up. One match where did India won. Gambhir/Dhoni/Raina. Other match low total. So Dhoni and Yuvraj were able to finish off. Other matches we just didn't click. This happens when your fortunes depend more on batting. Imagine having a team that can defend totals like 200. That is when you will win more matches. Your bowling and fielding unit must be international standard.
Params7 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Nehra's been our best bowler alongside Jadeja, but I wouldn't mind if he sits out next game just to give Munaf another chance and Tyagi a chance.
