Friday 6th November 2009 No sponsor yet for SL series The BCCI is still struggling to find a title sponsor for the Test series between India and Sri Lanka. With barely 10 days left for the start of Sri Lanka's tour of India, the delay in getting the sponsor forced the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association to order the printing of tickets for the second Test match, scheduled from November 24, with its own logo instead of a sponsor. UPCA Director Jyoti Vajpayee told PTI that the Indian Cricket Board has not been able to find a title sponsor for the Test series, which begins with the first Test in Ahmedabad from November 16. "After getting a BCCI's go ahead, we have ordered printing of tickets without sponsor logo," Vajpayee said. PD Pathak, another UPCA official, said the distribution of tickets to fans would not be delayed any more, adding that tickets will be sold through State Bank of India counters.

10 days to go for the series. Thats a lot of time, knowing the BCCI way of working. BCCI has never ever been in a hurry to plan for such things. We are in Novemeber and we dont know if the tour to BD for tests and tri series is on or not? Even for Ind-Aus ODI series, Hero Honda was roped in only at the last moment , perhaps 8-10 days before the series started.

The price is probably too high for a Sri lankan series(one Indian series probably costs as much as Pakistans entire year). Remember that all rights to the Indian team itself has been sold for a long time. BCCI has never made any efforts to make a test series marketable nor have they reduced their price in the tough economic condition. I believe that the companies would rather spend millons on ODI's and T20's rather than a test series against SL. By the times the ODI comes around, there will be many.
