Jersey #10 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Yuvi is improving in Test Cricket and will surely have a higher average when he finishes Test Cricket. At the moment, Laxman is clearly a a better Test bat. However Yuvi IMO, is just starting to feel comfortable in Test cricket without too much pressure on his place in the side. So he should only improve from here. First 30 Test matches of both players yield a similar average with Yuvi having a slightly higher average. Laxman's average: 36.51 Yuvi's average: 37.12  Thanks Ludh...no wonder why you are my bestest :friends: on ICF
graphic23 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Can I also teach you ABC's? :giggle: Sure but dont forget to insert your explanation for "over all caliber" for a batsman.
Jersey #10 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Sure but dont forget to insert your explanation for "over all caliber" for a batsman. I will first start you off with ABC's and then once you are ready we can go over all the phrases you don't know. Let's plan it out, :hmmm: It would take you around 15 years to learn the ABC's since you are incredibly slow yet better than many fast learners. You are also stubborn so lets make it 20 years for ABC's...then we can start working on words and then move on to phrases. Let me look up a special school for you! Trust me, a little bit of schooling can do wonders for you since you seem to be in a condition where anything would help j/k dude...CHILL

Gambit Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 In and out before Morris writes an essay on how UV is much better than, forget Laxman, SRT.
Jersey #10 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 :dontknow: you forgot to explain "allover caliber"? A degree of capacity at which one can extend his efforts in all THREE FORMATS OF THE GAME and provide quality performances in each of the three. piche pad gaya sala :wall:
Mr. Wicket Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 In and out before Morris writes an essay on how UV is much better than' date='forget Laxman, SRT.[/quote'] Hey, don't knock India's lynchpin!
ludhianvi Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 At the moment: Tests : Laxman ODIs : Yuvi t20 : Yuvi Laxman doesnt have time to improve or prove himself in the ODI's or t20s whereas Yuvraj has ample time to improve in Tests.
vvvslaxman Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 8 votes in all. 1 vote for Yuvi 3 for the third option. 4 for Lachu.
Sachin_Rulez Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I can also find a list of games where UV has played fab innings in ODI while others struggled! He has not gotten to the point in tests as of yet but he soon will. and let's not even talk about what he can do in T20 games as every one knows. He is distructive at times hence not great but still a good player. I can find a LONG list of games where Sachin, Dravid and even Dada have ripped apart quality opponents. and I can assure you that the list would be longer than that of VVS. That's why I will agree with Varun that he is a notch below the caliber of God, Wall and Dada. :two_thumbs_up: At the end, I would like to compare Lax to the greats like god, dada, wall when it comes to tests. and when it comes to allover caliber I will not rate lax above UV, Dhoni, Gambhir. SORRY LOL!! You gotta be kidding yourself if you rate dada as a better test batsman than VVS :giggle:
ViruRulez Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 At the moment: Tests : Laxman ODIs : Yuvi t20 : Yuvi Laxman doesnt have time to improve or prove himself in the ODI's or t20s whereas Yuvraj has ample time to improve in Tests. :dito:
bharat297 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 At the end of the day ... all things taken into account. Yuvraj is not even anywhere near Laxmans league. Yuvraj has too many flaws ... such as against the swinging ball and against slower bowlers. You won't see an innings like the 281 by Yuvraj because he doesnt have the temperament or technique. In limited overs its fine because you can get away with poor technique. Having said that ... I think a batsmans performance in Tests should be weighted higher than in ODIs because they are a more difficult game overall. Yuvraj is no doubt the better ODI batsman.
Sooda Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 VVSL should have been persisted with in ODIs for longer than he had. His century vs Aus in 04 was a class knock. As was the ton in PAK in Jeet Lo Dil. Better runner between the wickets than people gave him credit for- his placement was immaculate which meant he was a good accumulator. Also not the most athletic but a good slip catcher Another thing I would say is that VVSLs ave in his first 30 tests is low because he was opening the batting for much of it, as someon pointed out earlier in the thread. Not his position.
99.94 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Isn't it simple..? Tests: VVS ODI: UV Overall: Wait til they're both done.

Not his position. The problem was that he came in 2000s when our batting was already becoming very strong. If it was in the 90s then he would have got a lot more chances maybe but not in 2000s. Even Rohit Sharma did not get enough chances and he is also regarded as a good talent.
DomainK Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Yuvraj has the opportunit to become a better batsman than VVS. I think the good thing about UV is that he is working hard and improving. His batting against the spinners has imrpoved a lot. Rest depends on his own hunger. Right now he has long way to go before he can be called a better batsman than Laxman.
Guest Gunner Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I can't believe this discussion is actually taking place. I am truly speechless. The overall IQ of ICF has just plumbed new depths.
