For my money, Australia is going to win this test

I am not so sure about Australia's chances in this test, mainly because their first innings total is so horrendous. If they had managed something around 210-220 in their first innings, they would have had at least a reasonable chance of some damage control, but 127 is an appalling first innings score. That is what most teams score in a single session these days. Pakistanis may well be the most mentally fragile batting unit among all front-line test playing nations, but even they're bound to have the odd good performance every now and then. And that is all they need for them to go well ahead of Australia by the end of day 2. Come to think of it, one quick fire partnership in 2 hours/30 overs is by itself enough to overhaul this Aussie total. Their top-order is littered with attacking (albeit, generally mediocre) batsmen like Butt and Farhat. If Farhat flays away with gay abandon like he did in the third test against New Zealand, it might really upset the rhythm of the Aussie bowling. And the news gets worse for Australia. The weather is set to dramatically improve over the next few days, with the temperatures getting progressively warmer. If that happens, the Aussie bowlers will get nowhere near the purchase that their Pakistani counterparts got out of this pitch. If Australia manage to dismiss Pakistan anywhere between 220-280 in their first innings, they have a shouting chance of making a comeback in this match. But, if Pakistan score anywhere around 330+ in their first dig, I fear that is essentially goodnight nurse for Australia in this test. This does not look like one of those pitches that magically turn into a batting beauty on days 2,3 and 4, after the team batting first on day 1 has been dismissed for paltry score. So, we can almost rule out a massive Aussie score in the 2nd innings also. So, a Pak lead of around 180-200 will make it nigh on impossible for Australia to comeback into the test. A lot will depend on the first session tomorrow. If Pakistan manage to survive and score some decent runs, they may very well be on their way to their first win in Australia in nearly 15 years. This test is probably just a session away from slipping away from Australia's grasp altogether.

Was it the same Ireland that beat bangladesh in the next round? ANd that was the same bangladesh that made india and pak travell together :--D:--DI dont know how you guys talk about this match vs ireland' date= doesn't that make you remember your firt round exit vs bangladesh...
What kind of dumb a.r.se logic is this ? I dated this girl, this girl had a father, and so indirectly, I dated the girl's father :WTF: Can you please stick on topic and tell me by what margin your team will lose this test by ? Go on, we all know they will lose, just the margin of difference

I also never talk about this indian loss bcause of pakistan exit... I even rarely think about bangladesh winning, because i remember this win and so i remember this disastrous world cup from pak... Better that both pak and india forget 2007 world cup...

I am amazed at your short term memory. You attack us by mentioning Ireland when you were beaten the same day by Bangladesh on a FLAT track? I don` t know about you but I consider that loss more humiliating than losing to a minnow on a green top where any team can lose.

 What a pi$$ - take. By your own admission, your strength is your BOWLING - A 'bowling powerhouse' is it not ? Are you telling me your bowling powerhouse was not good enough to outbowl a bunch of part timers ? :sniffle: Any predictions on the outcome of this test ?

i`m afraid it happens at times. They`re not gods you kinow:winky: Just like you crumbled to the Mendis magic when your team is,without doubt, a batting powerhouse. Too early to predict on the outcome of the match. You`re forgetting it`s Pakistan batting.:giggle:

sree_oz seems to be close to breaking point here
 By the end of tomorrow, Australia will bat again, take a 50 run lead, bat into the third day and set Pak a target around 220 odd runs. CD's will have their customary collapse and lose to Australia by some 30 - 40 runs Given their chronic collapses, you have to be a brave man to support Pak, no matter how advantageous their position seems

I think the OP is right, when have Australia ever given an easy victory especially in Australia. When we were here last even in Perth they lost only by 70 odd runs after being overwhelmed throughout the test match. Heres what I predict, Pakistan will certainly gain a lead of around 100. Australia will bat through their skins to put 250+ to win and Pak will collapse spectacularly.

People here have lots of hope on Aussies but I dont think Aussies have it in them to make a comeback from this position. My prediction is Pakistan iwll have 120+ runs lead and Australia will get our for around 330 in the second innings and Pak will chase 200+ target with 7-8 wickets down.
