In light of what happened yesterday (and indeed over a period of time ) to our padosees I feel highly privileged to have a battery of Batting maharathis in our side who smoke the heck out of any opposition that comes across them. Chasing 387 on a tricky pitch ? No problems. Starting an innings with 500+ in arrears due to poor bowling resources ? No problems. Umpires working for the other side ? No problemo. Bring it on they say. The last decade is replete with stunning batting performances one better than the other. But yet if someone were to read the forums he or she would be forgiven if they went away with an impression that we have some serious problems with our batting lineup. So in light of all that heres my little thank you for all the great Indian batting gods and hope that we savour the remaining few years of the careers of our heroes without bickering and whinging. Once they hang up their bats for good we will know what we were missing and then it will be way too late. :hatsoff:

Very good post. We need to hold our team a little higher than we do. We fans are spoiled by the amazingly high standards our batsmen have set. We need to look around and realize that. Thanks BB.

Apart from appreciating the batting gods, I want to appreciate the cricket culture of India. Once a player is made captain, whatever be the differences, the captain gets full support and even gets the best advice from all the senior players, without any malice. When Kapil Dev was made captain in 1983, when Gavaskar was made captain back in 1984, Kapil again in 1986, Azhar was made captain over Ravi Shastri, Vengsarkar in 1989, Post-2000 when Ganguly was made captain, when Dravid was made captain over Ganguly's ashes, Kumble over Dhoni and now Dhoni...The team comes first... You don't see anybody claiming Dhoni doesn't get the confidence/advice from the senior players etc. Even when Yuvraj/Sehwag want to become captain, Dhoni gets 100% effort from all of them. :adore: to the team culture.

True. Taking nothing away from the batting greats, many of who are amongst all time legends, one has to step back and appreciate India's cricketing culture. For all its negativities, and there are aplenty, in the end there is a system and has served the country well. Completely in contrast to Pakistan where an Imran Khan is hailed as all time great because he would select his XI. Or when Miandad could pick Akram off the streets and get in the team. You would never see any Indian cricket player, even the greatest of them having that kind of "strength" to kick over an entire system and get his XI. Sachin, Sunny and Kapil never had anything like that..and in retrospect that has served India very well. xxx

no second thoughts .. we have the best batting lineup in world cricket .. as I mentioned in last match too, we are the only team in the world which makes 300+ runs easily and regularly .. if only we had the bowling lineup too then we would have been the dominant team in world cricket like Aus in the last decade

Exactly bossbhai, I thinky we all are highly privileged to be seeing these sort of Indian players over and over. What a great country we are. JAI HIND
