Even as Ravi Chopra gets busy wrapping up the post-production of Baabul, he has already decided on his next venture ? a remake of his own serial ?Mahabharat?. This ?Mahabharat? will be six hours long. The buzz doing the rounds is that Chopra wants to cast Amitabh Bachchan as Bhishma and Rani Mukherji as Draupadi. ?I will not disclose my cast yet. It?s too early to talk about that,? he says. The film will be directed by Chopra and produced by B R Films. Incidentally, his father wanted to make ?Bhagwan Sri Krishn?a with Shashi Kapoor as Krishna and Hema Malini as Draupadi in the early '80s, but the film got shelved. Later, in 1988, B R Films launched the mega-serial ?Mahabharat?, which has been a benchmark in Indian television history, having been dubbed in more than 12 languages in India and in eight foreign languages. Chopra says, ?I have been toying with the idea of making this epic into a film, but I was tied up with my prior commitments. But now that Baabul is wrapped up, I can take up this challenge.? This six-hour marathon is expected to be the longest film in the history of Bollywood. Will Indian audiences have the patience to watch six hours of a film? ?I am not going to show them ?Mahabharat? for six hours. I will release it in two parts ? part one on one Friday and the second part on the following Friday. But I will be working on both films simultaneously,? he says. He also insists that the film will be made differently from his serial. ?A film demands more glamour and our budget is Rs150 crores, for part one and two. We are going to get a special effects team from Hollywood and it will have an international look, so that we can market it abroad,? he says

Amitabh will suit tht character to a Tee.... will Salman khan be bheem ;).. sunny deol will be interesting choice... saif should play lord krishna, cos he has tht mischievous look abt him.... Abhishek should play Karna... he has tht knack for arousing sympathy in negative roles... Aamir should play Arjuna.... serious, focussed kind... Yudhistra -hmm.... need to think abt this one...

Re: 150 cr Mahabharat movie with Amitabh bachan >Might as well throw the Rs. 150 crore down the drain. Cant imagine any sane person sitting for 6 hours in a movie theater. why not..he is thinking off releasing in two parts...If some sane folks can watch LoTR's all the parts...why not Mahabharata..

It's one of those things that you wish India would do, but know deep down that it'll never happen ... ... ... ... you know, like ... ... ... people following the "No Littering Law" Nice to see this one is coming to fruition. This film will kick some serious a$$. :wtg:
