kabira Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Rohit scored runs in domestic cricket. He has triple hundred. so he did score some runs in domestic cricket. Raina has done nothing in domestic cricket in comparison.
Sachinism Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I agree, if Nohit gets picked it'll be a slap on the face for all these guys who have piling on runs
the_indian_fan Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 very well said everyone the selection of sifarishi rohit sharma, if it happens, would make a mockery of indian cricket and be a huge slap on the faces of domestic performers who have toiled hard for years in domestic cricket, but lose out to a player who has done nothing at all, apart from having some very high contacts in bcci and gets selected ahead of atleast 100 more deserving players. the sifarishi rohit sharma should not be anywhere near the india a team even. a avg of 23 with a sr of 71 after 41 odis says it all
gaurav92 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 What will be your squad for S.African series ? My squad of 16 members will be : Virender Sehwag Gautam Gambhir Virat Kohli Subramaniam Badrinath Suresh Raina Sachin Tendulkar M S Dhoni Murali Vijay Harbhajan Singh Amit Mishra Pragyan Ojha Zaheer Khan 'Ishant Sharma Sudeep Tyagi Yuvraj Singh(If recovered from injury) VVS Laxman(If fully fit) I have heard that RD may miss the series, so it gives Virat Kohli a go in the line up along with a Suresh Raina who has never been taken in a test squad, but IMO he deserves it more than Rohit.Subramaniam Badrinath also makes his cut in the squad only to see his name once again being excluded from the playing XI if Yuvi and VVS gets fit. What will be your Squad ?
jusarrived Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I kinda agree , but Rohit & Kohli are our best best for tests ..so I dont mind either of these two selected
gaurav92 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I have seen a lot of talented players like Rohit, not doing justice to their talent by not performing when given chances, so thats the end of it, Nohit shouldnt be looked for this series IMO
saneindian Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Viru GG Vijay SRT Kaif Badri Dhoni Mishra Bhajji Zaheer Ishant This is my playing 11 for the first test. Reserves: Either a spinner or a batsman. A squad of 12, rest everyone should be asked to play whatever domestic cricket is going on. No point asking someone like Pujara, Kohli, Raina, Rohit, Tyagi, Ojha etc to warm the bench and carry drinks. Instead some good player from Vidarbha can be the reserve fielder and carry drinks as well.
Shane Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 All of them will be fit, perhaps Dravid might miss out, Vijay in for Dravid.
the_indian_fan Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 sehwag gambhir murali vijay tendulkar laxman(if fit)/pujara kaif dhoni(c,w) mishra harbhajan zaheer ishant raina tyagi ojha
gaurav92 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 ^Agreed. So if an injury occurs,we will have some goayers from reserves with match practice in Domestic cricket
sm332 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 assuming we have to fill three slots .... Pujara at 3, Kaif at 5, Vijay at 6 I dont want to see NoHit, Raina or Kohli anywhere near the test team at this pt in time.
Show_stopper Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 No point asking someone like Pujara, Kohli, Raina, Rohit, Tyagi, Ojha etc to warm the bench and carry drinks. . Exactly..I know there is a lot of concern regarding injuries to batsmen in the squad..but it is my firm belief that 1,atmost 2, reserve batsmen is enough. And it looks like Murali vijay and Dinesh karthik have it for the time being. So don't think there will be anymore spots up for grabs at this point.
spectre Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Sehwag Gambhir Rahul / Badrinath Sachin Vijay Laxman / Raina Dhoni Mishra Ohja Zaheer Ishant I hope the Wall gets back fit for this series, we really need him more than others
urbestfriend Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Viru Gambhir Rahul/Pujara Sachin Laxman/Badri/Kohli Dhoni Piyush chawla Bhajji RP Zaheer Ishanth
The Dark Horse Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I still stand by Badri inspite of his failure in Duleep.
zubinpepsi Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I dont think Badri deserves a chance.. he dint do anything spl for the last 1 yr or so... i hope they take Kaif in place of yuvi, pujara in place of laxman if vijay is replacing dravid.. else it shud be kaif and vijay..
Fontaine Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I don't mind who they pick. Beating SA will require a team effort from everyone including the fielding. So difference between one or two hopefuls isn't going to make or break this series. I'm more concerned with our fielding that selection to be honest. Vijay seems to be a good one though!
Mr. Wicket Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 ..if Nohit Sharma makes it to the side ahead of the likes of Raina and Co for the SA series. WTF has he done off late ? Averaged 87 this domestic season with a lot of good scores, including a triple century. At the end of it Pandey (top Ranji rungetter), Rahane, Rohit, Pujara and Badri have all made tons of runs this season. I will be happy to see any of them be picked. Especially if it's at the expense of Porky from Punjab.
