coffee_rules Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Somehow Raina gets a Yuvraj like ODI stamp and not test class. With no Dravid (assuming), we need a grafter around whom the team will bat. Kaif and Badri can fill that slot. Vijay will play in place of Yuvraj (who is in doubt). With Laxman back in the team, I would go with Kaif as he seems to be in redhot form.
Gunner_Mania Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Nohit doesn't even get a mention in this article. http://www.cricinfo.com/indvrsa2010/content/story/446005.html
Riley's Girl Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 :whack: WHAT?!?!? That is my squad. Nobody specified that the squad had to be Team India's. Here's another squad: Viru Gauti SRT Kohli Laxman / Vijay Yuvraj / Karthik MS Bhajji Zak Ishant Ojha / Tyagi
spectre Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Raina should be given a go at the test level atleast give him a chance before labeling him unfit for test matches Being aggressive shouldn't go against him. He has a wonderful style and compact technique, he plays spin bowling as good as anyone in the team. his short ball play is marked as his weakness from a very few of his dismissals that way bringing Kaif or Rohit back ahead of Raina gives a wrong signal
Sir john Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Viru gauti sachin vijay kaif yuvraj dhoni harbhajan khan mishra ishant.
patriot Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Averaged 87 this domestic season with a lot of good scores, including a triple century. At the end of it Pandey (top Ranji rungetter), Rahane, Rohit, Pujara and Badri have all made tons of runs this season. I will be happy to see any of them be picked. Especially if it's at the expense of Porky from Punjab. Salil- You are right. He did have a good Ranji Season. http://stats.cricinfo.com/indiandomestic2009/engine/records/batting/most_runs_career.html?class=4;host=6;id=2009%2F10;type=season 602 runs @ 75 and a triple ton. But he has been bettered by atleast a dozen other players many of whom have been knocking the doors for quiet some time.
Karan114 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Nohit doesn't even get a mention in this article. http://www.cricinfo.com/indvrsa2010/content/story/446005.html Thing is, we (media and fans) know who the contenders are. Now different media outlets will speculate and give it their own spin on which 3/4 players they think might make it. Only a couple of papers/web sites will have any real idea - the ones that get a leak/hint from one of the selectors. The rest are guessing as much as any of us fans
Gunner_Mania Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 For first test Viru Gambhir Vijay Sachin Laxman/Badri/Kohli Dhoni Karthik/Raina Bhajji Ojha Zaheer Ishanth RD to return for 2nd test
SachDan Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Viru gauti sachin vijay kaif yuvraj dhoni harbhajan khan mishra ishant. :hysterical::hysterical: Yes Sir!
NARAN Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Viru Gouti Vijay Sachin VVS Badri MS Harbhajan Zaheer Mishra Ishant
achilles Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Manish Pandey has got 897 runs in 10 FCs @ an avg of 59.80 and a Strike Rate of 79.38 (which is next only to Viru & Irfan this season). He's young but if Rohit or "Nohit" as everyone seems to be referring to him in this thread, makes it to the squad, I have no idea why he can't make or even Badri (experienced campaigner like him needed in Middle order) or Che Pujara :--D
straight.drive Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I would wait for one more season. The kid needs to get few more years of experience. He is primarily an attacking player. Does he have the good defence technique? I reserve my case.
Andy Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Y isnt no one talking abt Badrinath. 2 years back he was considered one of the Hot PROPERTIES OF TEST CRICKET. Technically he is beter equipped dan the Rainas/Nohits/Kaifs :hehe:
vvvslaxman Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 India should try this team. Good balance. 4 all rounders. wicket keeping all rounder. Solid openers. Jaffer Uthappa Kaif Rohan Gavaskar Dinesh Mongia Parthiv patel (WK/opener) Joginder Agarkar Sunil Joshi Gony Nehra

vvvslaxman Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Until now we could experiment only no.6 spot. Now we can experiment other spots. I am pretty sure India has the best bench strength after Australia.
davidcooper Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 ..if Nohit Sharma makes it to the side ahead of the likes of Raina and Co for the SA series. WTF has he done off late ? IMHO, KAif is in red hot form and has great experience. Now would be the best time to get him in the side. http://cricketnext.in.com/news/raina-kohli-rohit-frontrunners-for-sa-series/46619-13.html?from=lp This fat SLOB has got umpteen chances ahead of many more worthy guys in the past, so don't be surprised if he get books his slot again. Apparently, according to news coming out he is among the front runners. I wonder who his godfather is in BCCI. rohit sharma >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> overrated kohli/raina
