Rohit Sharma named as captain of Board President's XI Rohit Sharma was appointed captain while Mithun was also part of that squad in order to give him a look-in ahead of the Test. More... The Indian selectors also named a squad for Board President's XI's two-day match against the South Africans in Nagpur. Rohit Sharma was appointed captain while Mithun was also part of that squad in order to give him a look-in ahead of the Test. The big omission from the list of 14 was Wasim Jaffer, who scored 638 Ranji Trophy runs at 53.16 this season. It was a clear message that the selectors wanted to invest in youth for these tour games, and not bring back players who have been tested at the top before. Abhishek Nayar, at 26 years, was the oldest player in the side. Board President's XI: Abhinav Mukund, Parthiv Patel (wk), Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma (capt), Manish Pandey, Cheteshwar Pujara, Abhishek Nayar, Piyush Chawla, R Ashwin, R Vinay Kumar, Abhimanyu Mithun, Shikhar Dhawan, Umesh Yadav, Manpreet Gony.

He almost scored a 200 a few days back. I have no idea what Kris has been thinking. Or maybe I do, coz he's been behaving this way ever since he became the official "mascot" of CSK.
so how do you explain the exclusion of Badrinath for such a long time ?

Kaif more than deserves a shot, not just at the A side but the main team Have to agree with Sane- cant see why Raina and Virat who should be our long term batting hopefuls are not given an oppo to see what they can do against world class test bowlers. They should be ahead of the likes of Pandey and Mukund in the pecking order Irfan is so much more of a genuine test player than Nayyar ever will be. Even Powar would be a greater threat than Ashwin On the plus side, good to see Yadav there, him and Mithun should be a lively new ball duo. Gony had a decent season but perhaps RPS should have had a look in- again more likely to be a long term test player, we know he can take wickets at the highest level.

Irfan is a failed test bowler. Unless he lights up FC, no reason to assume he has gotten any better. Kaif I agree deserves a second chance now that slots are opening up in the test team although he is more of a survivor rather than a stroke maker or a scorer. Regarding powar, he couldn't break into the test side due to Kumble and Harby and now we need to now look at younger guys who could be better than him.
