The Outsider
Interesting. Maybe Morriz' conspiracy mill has some truth in it after all. ( NAGPUR : As team India gathered around to defend their number one position in test cricket here, it became clear that rumours and hushed utterances of the past few months about unity in the team might come out in the open in an ugly manner soon. According to well placed sources, selection issues and perceived favouritism has brought certain team members at loggerheads and an emergency meeting of Dhoni, Sehwag, Kirsten, and Tendulkar was convened to control the damage. The source said, "Dhoni has been livid at not having been given the choice of a number 6 batsman, with the selection committee forcing Badrinath into the playing XI for all practical purposes. He was even thinking of resigning but Gary and Sachin have convinced him to take stock of the situation after the series". Under intense speculation was also the role of Amit Mishra in the forthcoming series. While Sehwag, Kirsten, and Tendulkar were in unison to play him against South Africa, keeping in mind their weakness against wrist spin, Dhoni was adamant on playing Pragyan Ojha. The source revealed that Dhoni and Sehwag were in particular very derogatory about the other person's choice, "At one point Veeru told Dhoni that Ojha would not be able to dismiss even Amit and Ishant in the nets, forget about Kallis and deVilliers. Dhoni eventually seemed to cave in for Amit under pressure from Sachin." "There were also heated debates about the batting slots of Murali, Badri, and Laxman with no consensus being reached. Veeru and Gary were in favor of sending Laxman up the order, but Dhoni and Sachin wanted Badri to go in at number 3 and show he is good enough to be selected saying there should be no hiding in international cricket", the source further revealed. With the critical two match series about to start, India have a lot of groundwork to do just to preserve team spirit if they are to field eleven united players on Saturday. All indications were that things might get even worse before improving. Link to comment

Sachinism
The signs were always there. mybestfriend forget Sehwag; what is Sachin doing there, I know he is a senior player, but should he really have a say in matters? Link to comment
coffee_rules
WIth 2 rookies, it makes sense to have Laxman come in down the order. I would go with: Sehwag, Gambhir, Vijay, Tendulkar, Laxmani, Badri, Dhoni, Harbhajan, Mishra, Zaheer, Ishant Link to comment

May be you are right :(( These Clash of egos and multiple power centers within the team is no good and should be nipped in the bud. Link to comment
