saneindian
Poor guy, has been in the spotlight for no fault of his and today found himself batting against the best bowler in the world running in his best rhythm for a long long time. Reminds me so much of that Manoj Tiwary odi debut vs Australia when Tiwary had no clue and was cleaned up by a Lee yorker. He has neven been the same player again. I hope Saha doesnt meet the same fate. Will be praying for him to score some runs and show a lot of guts when its his chance with the bat (though the best thing will be for him not to get any chance and other batsmen ahead of him doing the job). vvvslaxman
I don't think people have a go at him harshly. He can't help anything about selectorial goof up. But i like to know which genius decided he is better than Karthik or even Parthiv patel. Link to comment
riya
I agreed to some extent,Steyn was in the form of his life. For the first time poor Saha must be seeing some thing like this at that pace. Link to comment

Karan114
I have nothing against Saha at all. He should not be playing here (he is nowhere near good enough to be playing Test cricket as a specialist batsman) and India are suffering as a result, but it is not his fault. And true about getting trapped in the midst of a sensational spell from a brilliant bowler. Link to comment
urbestfriend
I dont think it is selectors fault. They selected him as backup keeper to Dhoni not as a specialist batsman. This is definitely team management's good up to play him as a batsman. If they wanted to give him a chance at least he should've been asked to keep instead of dhoni. If he had done good job behind the wicket, he would've had some confidence going for batting. I am sure he must not have played as pure batsman even for bengal team !! This is very poor of Dhoni and Kirsten to select him as 6th batsman! Link to comment
Ram
Yea, cant really fault the poor dude. But whoever chose to pick him instead of Karthik/Parthiv needs to have his head examined. He might yet be a good batsmen, but being a total newcomer to intnl. cricket, he has almost no chance of surviving against guys like Steyn/Morkel and their reverse-swing skills. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
! This is very poor of Dhoni and Kirsten to select him as 6th batsman! They had no choice as they had just 1 reserved batsman who hurt himself. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
They definitely had choice of selecting him as wicket keeper! How will that make a difference . He is still a crappy batsman. It is not like Dhoni bats poorly when he keeps wickets. He got out to Harris of all the people. Link to comment
Dravid
o stop feeling sorry for him.. he just got the chance of his life thx to rohit.... make it count guyz like badri had to wait till 29.. prove to the people u r the next best keeper, ahead of parthiv/karthik...GRAB THE OPP. saneindian
They definitely had choice of selecting him as wicket keeper! And then people would have cursed Dhoni for making the youngman work hard , shattering hsi confidecne by asking him to keep wickets and running away from his own responsibility! Hindsight, my firiend is always 20/20. Link to comment
The Outsider
This is how selections for the Indian team have always worked - a couple of fringe players in the 15 man squad who are not likely to play are made on zonal basis so that the selectors can keep their mai baap happy in their zones. With Vijjay and Badrinath being certainties in the starting XI, the selectors could not have included Karthik in the squad. So to keep the zonal quota they chose Saha. Of course, no one would have imagined that Saha would actually be playing in the side as a specialist batsman below the specialist keeper in the line up. The selectors could have ideally done a similar thing by dispensing one of Mithun or Tyagi and having a specialist batsman instead when it was clear that they were not going to field 3 fast bowlers. vvvslaxman
This is why they have to pick a balanced squad. I would rather have Ravindra Jadeja in the squad. Our tail batting sucks. They also field badly. If they fail in the one area they are specialised at then where do we go. India needs an all rounder down the order. No question about that. Link to comment

Hindsight, my firiend is always 20/20.[/quote'] No hindisght this my friend! This is as foolish a selection as it gets! Playing a wicket keeper who is half batsman as a specialist batsman against the likes of steyn and morkel is definitely a confidence shattering and career destroying move. If they wanted him somehow, they should've given him a chance to keep wickets. I'm sure no one would've cursed Dhoni for making youngman work hard :hysterical::hysterical: I dont think if a batsman is asked to bat, bowler is asked to bowl and wicket keeper is asked to keep then it is working hard:cantstop: It would've boosted his confidence rather than shattering :--D Link to comment

S.Bond
I think dhoni could have given him the gloves.... So he has less pressure... The litle i watched from him, h is not a bad bat... But he knos that he is not a speialist batsman... Link to comment
