Raina hasn't predicted any earthquake or something in test level that he should be given an opportunity in test team of India. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma are far superior batsman then him in test circuit .Infact there is a big list of players. Look at Dinesh Karthik. He his playing some big knocks, yet sitting out and not even in selectors wishlist.

Virat Kohli superior to Raina :hysterical: Let Kohli put up a decent score against a good opposition and then we can talk

Seriously dude, I am a big Raina fan and neither I am like others who stereotype a particular batsman and say that he is just meant for ODI's and not test, but I would always have Virat Kohli in the wishlist to be in test team then Raina or any other player for now. Virat Kohl is just one unlucky player not to be part of the current test team. Usually every Indian who has dominated in ODI circuit has been given chance in test, but Kohli hasn't been given such chance not that I am not liking Badri and Vijay.

Also when Australia toured India in 2008, It was Kohli and Sharama who put Australia in trouble. Both of them cracked centuries and Aus were in a position of losing the game but managed to draw in the end.

Dravid and Ganguly announced their arrival against probably the weakest bowling of the 90s. Steyn and Morkel after a tough Eng series are blowing hot. Give Vijay and Badri some time to settle against lesser formidable attacks.

wow, that was quick When did SL became a good bowling attack, atleast in recent times and quoting firstclass cricket :giggle: Let the Kohlis score a bit against an Aussie or Saffie international units and then quote those, i will be happy p.s Though i am pulling your legs, i know he is a good player, but saying superior to Raina after a few decent outings is laughable Raina has proved his talent over a period of time. Again if people want to counter this sighting a weakness, go look at Yuvraj or Ganguly

No, Kohli has impeccable technique and temperament. He will be much more successful in both the formats than Raina. Raina can hit, but thats about it. BTW, how's a 20 year old facing Mendis and Murali (right after they pwned the entire Indian middle order) and then scoring 50s against them, something to be ridiculed? Yes, Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka are a very formidable attack, no matter what you think. And um, you mentioned Australia and South Africa. How is pwning the main Australian attack not counting? He's beaten Wayne Parnell's South African outfit as a captain in the U-19 world cup, beaten them in Emerging Players Tournament (a 100 and 50 in the crucial games :woot: ). He is more ready to be a part of the test and ODI teams than anyone else in India today.

Raina is not technically the best, especially so vs the short ball but he can do alot more than 'hit'- he's a good player, great temperament (at least while chasing under pressure) and has the strokes to be a good test bat, we dont know whether he can grind an innings out. He needs to play in a 3-5 day match for a BP XI or A team to see how he can cope with the longer format.

most rubbish comment i have heard since a long time Have u seen Raina play the drives, the cuts and the leg side play. His shots have so much grace and class How do you come to a conclusion that he can only hit. Think at what position he plays and whats the game situation, atleast in the recent matches he played Perhaps you are too much into the T20 games and watching only his sixes i guess :giggle: All this after Kohli produced a string of good innings, wait till he faces a slump and lets see your comments then :finger: (though i dont wish that to happen) btw, Wasnt it Raina and Dhoni who countered Mendis and Murali in the ODI series in SL and won those games

Please show me any of Raina's big score in the longer version of the game against an international level bowling?

Big question is - Did he get a chance to do that in international test format hence i am saying he should have a run in test matches, if he fails then drop it stereotyping him that he is unfit for test matches, just because he is aggressive in the formats which demand it

Was he not chosen for any BP XI? Did he play any Irani trophy where Indian bowlers of test cricket were bowling? Did he play in any of the A teams to prove his worth in the longer format? If he didn't and others like Kohli got chosen (there must be some reason for selecting Kohli and Rohit and omitting Raina), how can you choose him straightaway for test cricket without having gone through these tests and coming out with flying colours like Rohit or Kohli did? Does this not show the messed up mentality of selectors and will this goof up not cost India like the goof up in the previous test did?

Kohli is not on Raina's level. Kohli should be ahead of Nohit though.....
Can you give reasons and back them with facts? Remember we're talking about test matches, the longer version of the game!

Was he chosen for any BP XI? - which is a mistake, he should have been there But even Virat Kohli was not selected so by your logic, why he merits test spot My knowledge of domestic cricket is very less, so i wont argue with you there Kohlis and Rohits have played in A teams - good But why not Raina - becuase he was playing international cricket with the national side Does all other Indian international players play lots of domestic cricket Not selected for A tours since he was part of National squad - was not Raina's mistake, how can you point that against him

IMO Kohli is more ready for the Test arena and that does not mean to say Raina doesn't have it in him. Its not his fault he has been given a defined role meaning whenever he's come out to bat he has had to play an attacking game. Raina needs to be given some A tours so he can prove himself for the longer format.
