Cricketics Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Thats really sad. You practice all your life for the moment to come and then die like this.
cowboysfan Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 that is too sad,i wonder why there were no padding for the poles.
yoda Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 sad. that turn looked too narrow and i read that this particular tunnel is about 15 mph faster than any other in the world.
Rajiv Posted February 13, 2010 Author Posted February 13, 2010 IOC and VANOC will investigate, the guy died in like 3 secs
ludhianvi Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Unlucky to smash into the concrete beams. They built the fastest track in the world. I suppose in hindsight, not a good idea to have concrete pillars right next to the track and without padding. Unfortunate to start the Olympics this way.
The Outsider Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 We were discussing this at work today - I brought up the situation that if an athlete were to die in an accident in the upcoming Commonwealth Games in India, what would be the reaction? On the surface this looks to be a grossly mismanaged and poorly designed track. Hopefully, there will be a proper inquiry into it.
