Sooda
A little bit OT this but we should try create a 'Dream Duleep Trophy' with the best players of all time from each zone. Thatll cover all best players each state has produced Id guess. I wouldnt know enough from East for instance Link to comment
teacup
Andhra Pradesh - VVS(I haven watched much of Azhar) Goa - Swapnil Asnodkar :hehe: Gujarat - Parthiv Patel Haryana - Kapil Dev Jharkhand - Mahi Karnataka - Kumble Kerala - Sreesanth Maharashtra - GOD:icflove: (no brainer) Orissa - Mohanty:hmmm: Punjab - UV Rajasthan - Ajay Jadeja Tamil Nadu - Robin Singh Uttar Pradesh - Raina West Bengal - Dada New Delhi - Viru bhai My knowledge is limited regarding cricketers from most of the eastern states in the country and pre90s. It would be great to read the insights of the old timers over here:icflove: Parthiv Patel over Gaekwad, Mongia, Kiran More? UV over Bedi? Ajay Jadeja over Ranji/Duleepsinghji? Robin Singh over Venkat, Srikkanth? Link to comment
bobbydhillon
No, he was from Punjab. Moved to Delhi only later on. Vinoo Mankad was a Gujju, though he played for many teams. Some of us Mallus would be tempted to put Ananthapadmanabhan ahead of Sreesanth. ok then if u wanna try that logic then kapil dev is punjabi who played for haryana. his family was punjabi family that moved from now pakistan to chandigarh Link to comment
bobbydhillon
so if ethnicity is the norm then greatest cricketer from the GREATEST STATE OF INDIA is punjabi named kapil dev Link to comment
coffee_rules
:hehe: Goa - Swapnil Asnodkar First Goan to play for India - Dilip Sardesai. Although when he started to play for India, Goa was not even part of the country let alone be a state. Link to comment
Tapioca
ok then if u wanna try that logic then kapil dev is punjabi who played for haryana. his family was punjabi family that moved from now pakistan to chandigarh Bedi started his Ranji career for Southern Punjab, only moved to Delhi later. vvvslaxman
1 out of every 4 wicket is taken by a Karnataka bowler .... I know I digress but thot that I would rub it in and remind everybody of "Idli Power" Idli bowler :hysterical::hysterical: Nice name Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Ethnicity has nothing to do with the kind of each state produces. But you can assocaite certain traits with players from certain state. Mumbai produces great batsmen. They have certain technique, flair. Probably the coaching there might be slightly different. Gavaskar, Vengsarkar, Manjrekar, Tendulkar, Sandip Patil even the Nohit has that flair that you typically associate with mumbaites. Karnataka has produced patient, gritty, tough cricketers. GRV, Chandra, Kumble, Dravid, Srinath, Prasanna, Brijesh Patel.. to name a few. You can hope Manish Pandey join that list. (Uthappam born in wrong state lol) Hyderabad has produced wristy elegant players. Jaisimha, Azharuddin, Laxman.. Link to comment
zen
Players from Gujarat: Pathan brothers (Baroda), Zak played for Baroda too, Munaf Patel played from Gujarat (A'bad), Nayan Mongia (Baroda), Kiran More (Baroda), Parthiv Patel (A'bad), Gaekwad (Baroda), Atul Bedade (Baroda) and Karsan Ghavri to name those from the top of my head. Hard to pick the best as the two WKs from Baroda have been amongst the best Ind has produced, Zak though now not playing for Baroda probably has achieved the most Link to comment
