To be honest when India was in NZ, they were treated like cricketing gods. You often hear in the cricketing clubs, circles, they talk very highly of Indian cricket and Indian players. Sehwag was hailed as great and so was every India player by the Kiwi cricket writers/followers. Tendulkar gets a lot of accolades from Aussie and English media all the time. Sehwag is well complimented by the Aussies, they like his sort of cricket. Rahul Dravid is well respected around the world and so is VVS. Gambhir was hailed as the best batsman by a lot of observers. If you are referring to some comments emanating out of Cricinfo, you are best advised to ignore those. Cricinfo is the dumbest cricket portal around and if not for live commentary they are an absolute waste of time. They still have 60s cricketers such as Geoffrey Boycott and Ian Chappell commenting on current day’s cricket. They hardly have anyone from the current era making observations. BBC and ACB is good that way, they have employed current and old players to provide different perspectives. As for South African oldies like Barry Richards, they are best left to be senile. Robin Jackman is fantastic, he is very balanced. Don’t know about Kepler as he must be hurting and at times when you are hurting you could slip in a few words that you don’t really want to say. It’s just disappointment showing in his words I guess. Legendary post. Take a :bow: !

What do you think about that ? :hysterical:The only batsmen your bowlers could get cheaply had a total of 3 test match experience, and gambhir was run out. Your batsmen obviously got better. :winky:
Riley's Girl Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Steyn bowled brilliantly yesterday. They have a potent opening pair. Morkely despite running fever bowled with lot of fire. I think they rely largely on Steyn bursts. I will give more credit to our batsmen than taking away credit from SA bowlers. On evidence their bowlers bowled okay. True, and therein lies our problem. When he is experiencing an ordinary day, as opposed to the exceptional one in the first test, we really don't have it in our attack to dominate. Also, as seen more than once in the past, the Proteas have a bad habit of 'slacking off' after big wins. To be totally honest I am not surprised by the situation we find ourselves in.

I don't fall for these simple numbers. In this decade, India has lost just one series at home till now, and that too to the all conquering Australia in 2004. How many series has SA lost at home in past 9 years and 2 two months? I remember three series losses to them. Could be few more which I can't recall from the top of my head.

rkt.india Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 you need to see 2 phases pf Dhoni's career, when he was playing just as a keeper-batsman and now as he is playing as a captain also and in my view he has changed his game in second phase because of add responsibility of captaincy bt u cant say that he does not score quickly his strike rate yesterday was 70, now a days he does not start flashy play steady in start but then most of the time he makes for that in the end when he is set then he plays his shots. I think India need a that kind of a player not just an out-an-out stroke maker like Sehwag. These type of players are the most valueble player to me, he has the guts of Steve Waugh to dig in and play to the situation more than the other Indian batsman and he has to do triple jobs in the team captain, keeper, and a batsman, and he has been India's finest cricketer debuted in this decade.
