Is this the one at Airport Road? I have been there. Used to stay very close to it and also I used to go to the Corner House Ice Cream shop in the same building every weekend. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/bangalore/9-dead-in-major-fire-at-Bangalores-Carlton-Towers/articleshow/5608146.cms Thankfully Manipal Hospital is just across the road, so hopefully the affected people were taken care of quickly.

Scary part is people panicked initially and some of them jumped from the 3rd floor of the building.Another scary part is the fire department in most of the cities is totally ill prepared in dealing with fires in multi storey buildings This was just a seven storey building .

It's the same with any of our emergency services.

Another scary part .. not sure how many buildings were constructed and are maintained as per the building code. Thats what hurt Haiti a lot.

RIP It was in Carlton Towers as per news .. the news was flashing whole evening .. they did not mention TGIF however 9 feared dead and around 15 critically injured .. there was panic after the fire and people jumped off the building in panic as per eye witnesses in news channels

they also said that there was no safety measures in the building .. the builders are going to be arrested (at least for now :winky:) as per news reports.. and they were also saying the Bangalore fire dept. is also less equipped and there was only a single high rescue-ladder vehicle and it was at a far off part of the city and so took time .. but yes people were saying panic was surely the main reason for the incident BTW it was mentioned as an office by the news channels .. I remember now .. TGIF was not where the fire occurred I suppose
