Gunner_Mania Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 England's Stuart Broad has pushed the bounds of acceptable behaviour on a cricket pitch before but by apologising immediately to Umpire Rod Tucker, after breaking the ICC’s code of Conduct on celebrating a wicket before it has been given out, he spared himself a visit to the cashpoint. ....... A feisty cricketer, Broad has come close to censure several times though never to the point of being punished. In a recent column, Sunil Gavaskar opined that umpires were afraid of punishing him because his father Chris is an ICC match referee. Chittagong was Tucker’s second Test and any leniency on his part was due to inexperience not fear. But it does seem quite bizarre that Broad's name keeps coming for all these on-field related issues and every time, he goes unpunished. We once had 6 members of our time reprimanded in a single match by that scum of a match referee Mike Deness in a charge of 'over-appealing'. But Broad just keeps getting away. And if its true that Broad got away this time because he apologized, then thats stupid. A breach of the Code of Conduct is after all a breach, whether you apologize for it later or not. How about an Indian cricketer giving an aggressive send-off to a batsmen and then later apologizing for it?
