Tendulkar declined Harbhajan's request to play in T20 World Cup March 29, 2010 Ace off-spinner Harbhajan Singh said on Sunday that he had requested Sachin Tendulkar to play for India in the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies. However, Tendulkar told him that he would stick to his decision of not playing Twenty20 internationals any more. Harbhajan disclosed that he had personally requested Tendulkar to play in the T20 World Cup, a day before the team selection took place in Mumbai. Harbhajan said that he feels Sachin's presence would have made the Indian squad stronger in the Caribbean. Bhajji said, "I feel that team would have become strong with Sachin's presence. Even a day before the selection I asked him to consider his decision, but he said that he has already decided that T20 is not his game and that he does not want to play anymore. I am sure that if a player of Sachin's calibre is present in the dressing room, it would have added to the confidence in the team." Sachin had earlier said that he doesn't intend to return to the T20 side. He said, "I am not going to play in the T20 World Cup. I abide by my decision taken in 2007."

Not really -- this just shows how big of Numb-Nuts your nation if full of-- Considering than an idiot like Afridi can recognize something like this -- which fails to get through the thick skull of a zillion others. PS: SRT doesn't need a certificate from Pakis of all the people -- to establish his class. He is what he is and nothing is going to change that.

‘Sachin's inclusion would have boosted India's T20 campaign' More... ‘Sachin's inclusion would have boosted India's campaign' Chandigarh: Considering the red-hot form Sachin Tendulkar is in these days, it would have been fantastic for India's Twenty20 World Cup campaign if the batting legend was a part of the squad, feels Harbhajan Singh. Tendulkar does not play T20 internationals anymore hence the selectors did not include him in the Indian squad for the World Twenty20, beginning in the West Indies on April 30. Tendulkar, who turns 37 on April 24, is in scorching form and has been instrumental in Mumbai Indians' splendid run so far in the third season of the Indian Premier League. “Had Sachin decided to play in the World Cup, it would have been good for the team. But since he has decided, we know he is not going to change his decision,” Harbhajan, said during an informal interaction with scribes on the sidelines of a felicitation function here. Harbhajan, who is among the top five bowlers in IPL III, has also impressed with his batting skills and his blistering knocks have come handy for his side. “I have worked a lot on my batting as well,” he said even as he hurriedly added that despite his little cameos he would still remain a bowler first. Asked about the T20 effect on other formats of the game he said, “It is having a positive effect on other versions. The game is becoming faster now.” The senior pro also said the IPL had helped all the international players in T20 World Cup preparations. “I think now we, as the Indian team, believe that every target can be chased down if our batting clicks. It's a good practice for T20 Cup. Other teams too will benefit because their players are playing in the IPL,” he said.
