youngindia Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 The basil rathbone "sherlock holmes" series of films- thirteen of them, with holmes positioned in a ww2 era and with inspiration from doyle's original stories. timeless! "True grit "- John wayne 1969 and bridges/damon 2010 2010 version is more gripping! i somehow find wayne's movies meandering here and there losing grip at times.
b555 Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 ah! so true grit had a older version too got to watch it as soon as i can :D
youngindia Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Good night, Good Luck ----> a film abt CBS's role in exposing a senator in 1950s .... 7/10 It was joseph mccarthy, a loose cannon who made use of the hysteria vs communists at the height of cold war and still a part of the american politcal consciousness-see clinton vs bush debate of 1992.
Zelig Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 yeah bro spirited away was an awesome animated movie watch the girl who leaped through time I've :agree:
Mariyam Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Saw 7 khoon maaf yesterday. 7/10 Positives- Strong story line. PC acted really well. Unique plot. Negatives- Horrible music The story moves very very fast initially and then slows down. If this movie were to be made as a book, it would be much more interesting. Thanks to the WC getting tickets for a Saturday night show was not an issue.

Zap_Brannigan Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Love and other drugs : What a colossal fk up. The movie itself is not that bad if seen as a romantic comedy. Anne hathway was nude a lot so that part was great. But other parts of the movies are so jarring. The 1st 30 minutes of the movie sets it up as "Thank you for smoking" for pharmaceutical reps but it turns into a romantic comedy(and a boring one at that) with the entrance of the girl. But the biggest WTF was the time period. The movie is set in 1996 but within the 1st 2 minutes you see Jake selling boom box (from the 80s) to flat screen TVs (from 2000s). I thought i misread 1996 up until a major plot point in the movie involving a new drug, Viagra, taking off. But again something stupid like a doctor bemoaning how now all patients look on the internet about their decease happens that make you doubt the time it is set in. Not to mention that we can see recent car models on the street.
